The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released IR-2021-16, which discusses important dates for filing 2020 tax year returns for individuals. Due to the recent tax law changes, the IRS has announced that they will start accepting 2020 tax year returns beginning February 12, 2021.
Although the IRS will not start processing individual returns until February 12, individual returns can be prepared prior to the acceptance date. Taxpayers are encouraged to begin gathering their tax documents and sending their information in as soon as possible.
