Commercial & Industrial Interlocking Flooring
A need for an MRI
If you ever have had an MRI, you've seen the specialized equipment needed to perform that scan. Where there’s special, expensive electronic and medical equipment there ought to be specialized flooring. Our FreeStyle BioLock flooring has fit the bill for a number of MRI, X-ray and medical lab rooms.

An MRI room at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA is a great example of the use of FreeStyle BioLock in a medical setting. The project was initiated and installed by Integrated Interiors, an installer of the Haworth Tecrete access flooring systems.

“An MRI room requires a special kind of tile for any number of reasons. For this particular job, the room utilized Hayworth’s access flooring system and therefore required a finished surface that could be removed to gain access to the subfloor panels. It also required embedding Gauss Lines on the floor to signify the magnetic field inside the room,” Thomas Ricciardelli, president of SelecTech, Inc. “On top of all that, the MRI floor needs to provide comfort to the medical staff who have to stand on the tiles all day and be easy to maintain. With these considerations in mind, FreeStyle performs like few other tiles in a hospital setting.”
