Jesus I Trust in You!
Greetings from Mr. Gault

I hope and pray that this correspondence finds you and your families well and safe as we all continue to navigate through these challenging times.  Coronavirus has impacted us in many ways, most profoundly for those who battle this disease in their families or professions.  The De La Salle School Community has experienced directly the challenges of this disease.  Several of our families are experiencing first-hand the effects of COVID-19 and have been forced to self-quarantine.   Many of our families have members of their household who are still working on the front line in grocery stores, on emergency response teams and in healthcare. We hold them all in prayer!

Our students, however, persevere in their studies and their teachers continue to emphasize the importance of the values that are recited in The De La Salle School Affirmations.  They continue to meet daily with their teachers continuing their studies.  This Monday we began our 4th and final quarter of the academic year and our 3rd Quarter Report cards were mailed home.  In lieu of traditional parent/teacher conferences, parents and faculty are speaking one-on-one via phone discussing the progress of their sons and areas for improvement.  A parent/teacher teleconference was held via Google classroom on Thursday evening with almost all families participating.

The De La Salle School students live the Lasallian values in their actions every day.  They proudly profess their Affirmations declaring loudly, "I am a De La Salle Gentleman."  They share in the vision of St. John Baptist De La Salle to "give back to those less fortunate than myself."  The students were recently asked to write letters to patients and staff at Mount Sinai South Nassau to bring a bit of sunshine into their day and share in the hope that our Lord's resurrection brings to us all.  These letters now hang throughout the hospital and have been shared with many patients as they battle this horrible disease.  I share with you below the letter that was chosen for Writer of The Week at our teleconference assembly this past Friday.  So many of you have given our students the gift of HOPE and have believed and contributed to the success of our mission.  There are many wonderful letters that I could share with you, however I believe this one demonstrates so beautifully that your investment has been worth it.

Stay well and be safe and please continue your prayers for the families of The De La Salle School.
