PICTURE OF THE WEEK
ARTICLE OF THE WEEK
Over the past several weeks, our preschool classes have been learning about the upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving. As Americans and Jews we are grateful to have Hashem's blessings, and be living in a country where we can practice religious freedom. Our focus with our childen, is that each day we begin by saying Modeh Ani, thanking Hashem for giving us another day, an opportunity to learn Torah and do mitzvot.

Many years ago the Pilgrims came to this country for religious freedom. The American Indians, who lived on these shores, helped them build houses, grow crops and learn to fish and hunt.

Thanksgiving is a day when many families get together for family time. At Y.H.T. we used this opportunity to have "Grateful Gatherings" with another preschool class, share food which was prepared in our classes, and discuss the things we are most grateful for. This opportunity to do hachnasat orchim reinforced our parsha learning. Many of our yeladim wrote books about what we are thankful for. Our Morot read many stories about life in Pilgrim times, as well as books covering the theme of thankfulness.  Our children are truly thankful for the wonderful learning opportunities we have at Yeshiva Har Torah each day!!
