Neighborhood Leader Meet & Greet
Join us for the second quarter Neighborhood Leader Meet & Greet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at The Atrium at the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St.

You will hear City updates, network with neighborhood leaders from across Garland and learn of possible opportunities for your neighborhood.

The event is free. Dinner is provided, so please RSVP so we can plan accordingly. See you there!
City Manager Bryan Bradford Named Living Legend
City Manager Bryan Bradford was honored as a Living Legend recently at the Verna's HELP Foundation's fifth annual Empowerment Prayer Brunch.

U.S. Rep. Colin Allred was guest speaker of the event at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas.


Garland Earns Statewide Communications Awards
The City of Garland is recognized for excellence in communications, earning six awards from the 2019 Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) Conference in early June.

The Garland City Press brought home a TAMI Award in the External Newsletter category. Several videos also won awards, in addition to Garland Power & Light's annual report and their use of social media in response to a major outage in 2018.

Firewheel Golf Park to Host 2019 Energy Producers, Inc. Texas Women's Open
From July 7 to 9, golfers from Texas and around the world will compete at Firewheel's Bridges Course in the 2019 Energy Producers, Inc. Texas Women's Open

In this championship event, 144 professional and amateur golfers will play for a $50,000 projected purse and a Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour exemption.

Firewheel Golf Park welcomes golf enthusiasts to walk the course with the players, set up chairs along the course, or watch the action from the Branding Iron Restaurant. Spectator admission is free.

The City of Garland Is Seeking Crossing Guards for the 2019-20 School Year
Join the City of Garland team with a rewarding opportunity!

The City will host a hiring event Friday, July 19, at Holford Recreation Center, 2314 Homestead Place. There will be an informational session from 1 to 1:30 p.m. followed by on-site interviews from 1:45 to 4 p.m.

Participants are required to apply online for the positions and attend the informational session prior to the on-site interviews. Learn more.

Apply Now for Boards and Commissions
Residents who serve on Garland's 11 boards and commissions can make a difference in the City and be directly involved with local government. They serve in an advisory or quasi-judicial capacity, providing information directly to the Garland City Council. From planning and development to multicultural events, boards and commission members advise on a range of City services. The City will accept applications for its boards and commissions through July 1. Application forms can be found on the City Secretary's page at G arlandTX.govSubmit applications to Ren é  Dowl, City Secretary, by email to  RDowl@GarlandTX.gov  or by U.S. Postal Service to City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St., Garland 75040.

Road Closures Around Garland
Garland Road at Shiloh Road will be under construction from 7 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Monday. A minimum of one lane of Garland Road will remain open in each direction during these times. These weekend closures will occur through July 8, weather permitting.  Monday, June 10, Holford Road bridge was closed completely for bridge work for approximately four weeks, weather permitting.  Learn more .

Graduation Traffic Reminder
Through June 21, Garland ISD's Curtis Culwell Center, 4999 Naaman Forest Blvd., will host graduations for many area educational institutions.  In general, motorists can expect traffic congestion along Naaman Forest Boulevard and adjacent roadways approximately an hour before and 30 minutes after graduation events. Non-graduation traffic should bypass that area, if possible.  Motorists can stay aware of potential traffic congestion with this  graduation schedule and map .
