WORD for the Week for July 21, 2019
Sixth Sunday After Pentecost
A 9-week worship series: The Gift of Wonder
Week 4
The Gift of Wonder:

This summer, get to know God in a new way. Experience The Gift of Wonder in our 9-week summer worship series beginning June 30.

Can you imagine a God who dances with shouts of joy, laughs when you laugh, loves to play, enjoys life, and invites us to join in the fun? In this series we will explore what it means to delight in God, to set our imaginations free, to return to the rhythm of life, to cultivate gratitude, and more.

Using the book The Gift of Wonder by Christine Aroney-Sine as our guide, every week we will try a new practice for opening ourselves to awe and wonder–to God. Spend the season deepening your wonder in God at Hennepin.

The Story: “The Gift of Curiosity” – Ann Carlson

Reflection: This week in Sacred Journey, Ann Carlson shares how she came to know curiosity as a spiritual gift and leads us to get in touch with our own inquisitiveness. When was the last time you followed your questions about life, love and God to a new spiritual awareness? How can the things we’re most curious about lead us to new stage of growth, a different spiritual practice, or even a new way of sharing in the joy and beauty around us? Bring a friend you this week to find out more.  All are welcome!
WORD for Traditional Worship 10am
Gospel Text: Luke 10:38-42 (NRSV)

Preaching:  Rev. Judy Zabel

The Gift of Curiosity

Reflection: This week, we will look at the spiritual practice of asking questions. What can we learn from the gospel story of Mary and Martha about the value of asking questions? What are your big questions? What would you ask Jesus if you were sitting with him at a Starbuck's Coffee? How can our questions open our hearts to new insights into the mystery of God?

Use this link to do a finger labyrinth as a wonderful way to prepare for worship this week. See you on Sunday.
