May 2019

May is Older Americans Month, a time to recognize and appreciate our community's aging population. As kids, we are convinced that we know it all. But as the years progress, we start to understand what it means to be older and wiser. This certainly holds true as it relates to good oral health.

Children question the validity of flossing and regular dental visits, but as adults, we understand the very real consequences of brushing aside these lifelong routines. The fact is, as the number of candles on our cake increases, so do our risks for certain dental issues.

Gum disease impacts more than half of those ages 65 to 74, prescription and over-the-counter medications can lead to severe dry mouth, and oral cancers most often occur in people over 40.

Older, wiser and healthier. Protecting your teeth well into your adult years ensures you'll enjoy a strong, senior smile and will  help you avoid developing disease as you age.
