.....Yelp and Eat This, Not That found the best chicken sandwich in the state of Mississippi here in Fondren at Roosters.

....."We identified businesses in the restaurant and food categories with a large concentration of reviews with mentions of chicken sandwich, then ranked those spots using a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews mentions chicken sandwich," explained Yelp, the social networking site that lets users post reviews and rate businesses....

....A little more than three months after Sherrell Thornton announced plans to close the hardware store he and wife operated for 25 years, he passed away from Covid-19.

....."It is with great sadness that we share with you that our husband and father passed on early this morning," Lea Thornton, wife, said Thursday in a Facebook post. "He was the greatest husband and father ever. He gave everything he had to give. He loved us with his whole heart. He showed us how to live a life of integrity and how to love not only with words but actions. He loved God and had an abiding faith in His will. Our lives will never be the same."

.....In announcing the closure of Montgomery Hardware, Thornton said of Fondren "It is a little of an emotional thing for us, for our family....it is a little like home, and we appreciate immensely the friends and customers that have supported us all of these years."

.....In honor of Sherrell Thornton who operated Montgomery Hardware in Fondren for 25 years, Erica Speed has announced plans to establish an endowment fund dedicated to helping Fondren-located, Mississippi-owned small businesses survive the economic impact of COVID-19.

.....After 14 years, Sal & Mookies plans to leave Fondren for a new location in The District. We are sad to see them go but wish them the best of luck! And, for the distant future, they will remain our go-to place for New York style pizza and ice cream, no matter where they call home!

.....The current plan is for the restaurant to remain operating on Taylor Street through March while their new space is being renovated.
