"The Invisible Embrace BEAUTY"
-
rediscovering the true sources of compassion, serenity, and
hope.
How one walks through the world, the endless small adjustments of balance, is affected by the shifting weights of beautiful things.
-Elaine Scarry
THERE ARE TIMES WHEN LIFE SEEMS LITTLE MORE THAN A MATTER of struggle and endurance, when difficulty and disappointment
form a crust around the heart. Because it can be deeply hurt, the heart hardens. There are corners in every heart which are utterly devoid of illusion, places where we know and remember the nature of devastation.
Yet though the music of the heart may grow faint, there is in each of us an
unprotected place that beauty can always reach out and touch. It was
Blaise Pascal who said: In difficult times you should always carry something beautiful in your mind.

Socially Distanced Socialization
|
Tired of Social Distancing and Zooming????
Introducing Salt Shaker Meals
WHO? Bethesda and Immanuel communities
WHAT?
A few of us have been thinking of how to socialize safely. So,
we will gather outdoors about 8 feet apart at one of our homes
for a meal. How does this work???
HOW?
One or more of us will volunteer to host. The host does not
provide food! We would each (or each couple) bring our own
chairs, food, beverage, and utensils. We really want you to
participate!!! Let us know if you are interested in attending.
Each event will include about 8 people. No agenda-just having a
good time!
WHY? We all seem to be missing the "face to face" contact that we're
used to. We might be a distance apart, but we will at least have
spontaneous conversation. We hope you are interested in
this "best we can do" activity.
WHEN? We will to start in June. Inclement weather dates will be set.
When we get the list of participants, your host will contact
you by phone or e-mail.
Please call or e-mail the church
office to let us know if you are interested. 715-779-5611

Bed Sheets Wanted
The Southshore Quilters, based out of Immanuel Lutheran, are in dire need of bedsheets to use for backings on quilts. They certainly do not have to be new, but they should be clean.

The people listed below need to be contacted often during this time of isolation. They are either very isolated (Long-Term Care Facilities) or are just plain suffering due to a death, or illness, or....
Just a suggestion that someone had to pick one person a day.
