A four-year old from a struggling family receives a scholarship to attend pre-school and gains critical academic and social skills.
2:00 pm: Emergency funds for rent keep a working mom, her children and aging mother in their home.
3:00 pm:
Parents attend a free suicide prevention workshop, learning essentials skills.
5:00 pm: Caregivers for relatives with a chronic illness learn how to reduce stress, tackle tough decisions and locate helpful resources.

Pastries for a Purpose
Raising Funds for Summer Camp

Relax and roll with it! Guests will roll, fill, and bake rugelach pastries to take home and enjoy. Karen Collins, founder of Bisousweet Confections and AB United Way board member, will be our host and coach.
Your donation will support summer camp scholarships for children in town who otherwise can not afford it.

The Acton and Boxborough communities, like many around the Commonwealth and country, have had the hard task of responding to the loss of youth by suicide. The World Health Organization has identified a community response to suicide as one of the most important factors contributing to prevention. What does a community response to suicide look like? Efforts are actively taking place in Acton, Boxborough, and many other communities around the Commonwealth, that promote healthy grieving, counter the stigma related to mental health challenges, provide the message that emotional crises can be overcome, and reinforce the idea that no one should struggle alone."

Community Impact Grants Program

With the arrival of spring comes the annual application process for the Community Impact Grants Program. The AB United Way Grants Committee, consisting of board members, staff, and community volunteers, is currently in the process of interviewing each of the 21 applicants.
