Dear Lycée Community, 

We are looking forward to having you ‘ back ’ on Monday! Hopefully you were able to enjoy some domestic downtime and are ready to get back to learning for the remaining five weeks of school. We understand that each family’s circumstance is different and we appreciate your contribution to the survey so we can better understand your challenges and adjust academic plans from the lens of equity. Please continue to reach out if circumstances are difficult: every family’s challenge is different. The health and safety of our students are on the forefront of our efforts, as they are foundational to their academic success. The resources below from our Lycée mental health professionals may be of assistance.

Community Message from the Mental Health Team

Our Mental Health Team is here to support the LFNO community during these uncertain times. Please reach out to your grade level school counselor for any questions, concerns, and/or needs. We are actively posting videos, resources and activities in Google classrooms for grades 1-9 and through guardian emails for grades PreK-Kindergarten.   

*Please make sure your 1st-9th grade child has accepted the Google Classroom invitation.

Exceptional Student Services
The Special Education Advisory Council is excited to announce the development of a community learning series for families of all students. The goal of this learning series is to share information and resources and learn together in a collaborative space to strengthen our collective community. The council invites you to share your interest in attending topical sessions and provide feedback into other learning opportunities you would like to experience by taking this survey by Friday, May 1 .

All Lycée families are invited to participate in this survey.


The first session in this learning series will be on Thursday, April 23 at 2:30 PM via zoom, which will be shared soon. This session will be recorded and uploaded to the ESS section of www.lfno.org/ess/ so it can be accessed at a later date and at your convenience.
 
Catherine Sample, speech therapist, certified autism specialist, and assistive technology specialist will present on assistive technology terms and solutions. This presentation will discuss tools, implementation, and modeling techniques to support children with communication challenges, challenging behaviors & emotional disturbances.

L'Heure de Contes (Story Hour) - Alliance Francaise
Kick off your child's virtual school week with some French stories!
Join AFNO instructor, Nadia, on our Facebook live Monday mornings to participate in the Alliance Française's second virtual storytime pour les enfants! Nadia will read aloud multiple children's storybooks en français while showing the images and engaging children to think and ask questions.

JOIN US: 10am on the AFNO facebook page ( facebook.com/afneworleans ) and we'll be there waiting for you!

We will also post the link on Monday morning on this event, so make sure to click "Interested" to receive notifications.

Les Petits Penseurs - Alliance Francaise - April 25
LES PETITS PENSEURS [online!] Zoom link below and provided in the registration form. Once registered, you will receive the password to the Zoom meeting the morning of April 25.

Kids between the ages of 6-9 have the chance to practice their French in our kids’ workshop. Les Petits Penseurs is a fun and engaging discussion group about the real and imaginary ideas of the world of children… en français!
