Eversource Foundation Donates More Than $2 Million to Support Communities During COVID-19 Pandemic
As part of its efforts to support all of its customers and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, Eversource announced that the energy company is donating more than $2 million through the Eversource Foundation to nonprofit organizations in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. These funds include the acceleration of the energy company’s regular $1.2 million annual donation to United Way agencies across all three states and an additional $1 million donation to be dispersed to those agencies and others providing social services such as food pantries and health and human service organizations. “We’re committed to supporting all of our customers, our neighbors and the communities where we work and live during these difficult and uncertain times,” said Eversource Chairman, President and CEO Jim Judge. “As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, the critical social services provided by nonprofits across our states are increasingly important, with people facing financial hardship and other challenges. There are many worthy charitable organizations across our region that are working to ensure that everyone has the support they need, and we’re grateful for all of our community partners and the important work they do throughout our region.” Some of the organizations and the respective COVID relief funds that are receiving funding from the Eversource Foundation include: United Way partners across all three states, including United Way of Connecticut’s “COVID Response Fund”, 4-CT Statewide COVID-19 Relief Fund, Connecticut Food Bank, and Foodshare.

In addition to this commitment, the energy company will also contribute to several food pantries in communities where it solely serves water customers through Aquarion Water Company. As part of the more than $2 million donation, the Eversource Foundation will provide targeted Community Impact Grants, which are smaller contributions to local nonprofit organizations in all three states. Since the emergence of COVID-19, Eversource has taken several other steps to support its customers, including the suspension of customer disconnects for nonpayment. While this pandemic continues to evolve, Eversource will continue to take all necessary precautions to maintain reliable service for its customers and to ensure the safety and health of its employees and the public under its COVID-19 pandemic plan. For more information on Eversource’s preparedness efforts and response to COVID-19, including FAQs for customers, ways to save, and more please visit Eversource.com.

Never a Better Time to Go Solar
CT Sun Nerds is the chamber’s only solar broker. As a broker, we shop the local solar installers for the best package for our Connecticut customers. Homeowners: Our industry lost 106,000 jobs in March with April looking even worse. Solar companies need sales to keep their staff. CT Sun Nerds has just recently negotiated much better terms with some of our favorite solar companies in an effort to create sales from new customers. Brand new technology is now available with solar panels that are more powerful and efficient. Margins have been cut in half to attract new buyers. For those that take advantage of this temporary offering, it will mean, fewer panels will be needed at a lower investment that will bring the break-even-point closer. For financed orders, it will mean a lower monthly payment with less interest and a quicker loan completion. In fact, for those who qualify, the combined loan payment with your new lower utility bill , should be lower than your current utility bill. Solar assisted utility bills will be as low as, $9.44 a month. Finally, the government, through rebates and credits, will help with over a third of the cost. However, this help will be reduced this year and totally eliminated with the end of next year. For more information, call Rod Ferguson at 860-888-9698.

Bradley International Airport Consolidated Rental Car Facility Project Selected for Safety Training Partnership from OSHA
While construction is known for being a dangerous business, one major Connecticut project is getting an extra dose of safety focus. The Bradley International Airport (BDL) Consolidated Rental Car Facility project now under construction in Windsor Locks is the newest site of a Safety Training Partnership. The partnership is between the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) federal and Hartford Area offices, Austin Commercial (design-builder for the project) and KBE Building Corporation (general contractor for the project).

This is the sixth invitation-only Safety Training Partnership that Farmington, CT-based construction services firm, KBE Building Corporation, has partnered on with OSHA since 2014. The partnership is officially underway at the BDL Consolidated Rental Car Facility project, which is now under construction in Windsor Locks. The Austin Commercial/KBE Building Corporation project is slated to be complete in May 2022. “We’re extremely proud of all our OSHA safety partnerships,” said Mike Kolakowski, CEO of KBE. “The partnership at Bradley International Airport Consolidated Rental Car Facility is no different. These partnerships fit in well with our ‘relationships are everything’ corporate philosophy at KBE.”

When completed, the 1.4 million sf consolidated rental car facility will house car rental services, add public parking, and incorporate public transit connections. The project includes a 4-story building and garage complex for six rental car agencies, along with 830 public parking spots, with half of those under cover. A second 4-story garage will provide service areas for the rental agencies, including fuel, vacuuming, window washing, fluid replacement, car washes, and maintenance bays for routine car work.

Mattatuck Museum Seeking Community Involvement in Documenting COVID-19
The Mattatuck Museum is collecting and documenting how COVID-19 has affected our local community. By preserving local responses and the impact on Waterbury and surrounding residents, the Mattatuck Museum will be helping future researchers understand the local impact of these trying times. To complement newspaper articles, local government press releases, and other traditional archival material that we will be collecting, the Mattatuck Museum is also looking to document people’s everyday lives and how COVID-19 has affected them. What does your life look like now? How are you protecting yourself/your family? What kinds of activities are you doing to pass the time? How are you celebrating birthdays/holidays? What do you think people should remember about this time? Your voice and your experience matter to us. Please consider contributing to our collection! Protect Your Business with Valued Computer Services
Did you know?
• 1 of 10 corporate laptops will be lost or stolen over their three-year lifetime.
• 140,000 hard drives fail in the United States each week.
• A new organization fell victim to ransomware every 14 seconds in 2019.
As a business owner, these are sobering statistics. Your employees are critical to daily operations. Loss or failure of their PCs can mean lost business, loss of critical data, and work stoppage. Additionally, ransomware attacks, with the potential to lock up a number of PCs, exponentially increases this risk. How long can you afford to have these employees down? What is the cost of the lost data on their PCs? And what is the impact on your business operations? It is impossible to take the guesswork out of WHEN a disaster might occur. However, with Datto Cloud Continuity for PCs, you have the confidence that you can recover and get your employees back to business without skipping a beat, exactly as they were before. Top 5 Reasons (SMB’s) Small & Mid-Sized businesses should do business with Valued Computer Services: • Eliminate the risk of sudden and unexpected repairs and recovery costs and replace it with a low, predictable monthly rate. • Instant technical support so you don’t have to wait around to get help. 60 Minutes or less response time guaranteed. • Receive ALL the benefits of an in-house IT department WITHOUT all the costs. • Sleep easier knowing the “gremlins at the gate” are being watched. Safeguard your data. • Eliminate annoying spam, pop-ups, and spyware from taking over your computer and your network. Contact Us Today To Become Worry Free! Douglas M. Hopson, President & CEO, can be reached at (203) 706-6738 or dhopson@worryfreetoday.com. Learn more by clicking here and at  www.worryfreetoday.com
