We are Reopening! (By Appointment Only)

As of Monday, June 1, the Centre will be available again to women, by appointment only. In person services will include: taxes, personal care items and computer access.

In order to offer some in-person services we have implemented a phone and door screening process, as well as rearranged the space and placed dividers to ensure physical distancing measures.

Staff and volunteers are also still available to offer some supports to women by phone. We can currently assist women with food bank referrals and peer support, as well as legal advice and taxes over the phone. For a full list of available services please visit our  website here.

Do you ever wonder what is recyclable and what is not? If you are confused about "what goes where," you are not alone. To help solve the confusion, Green Calgary is offering a new and unique learning opportunity to the Women's Centre of Calgary.
The program will include a series of interactive webinars with eye-opening learning tasks.

On  Monday, June 8, 5:00 - 6:30 P.M. join us, remotely, for a  discussion on Community Waste Exploration
You will learn exactly what should go into your residential recycling, compost and garbage carts. And, if you wonder why there are so many rules around it all, you will learn the fascinating science behind it.

In Focus: Unequal Impacts of Covid-19 & Towards a More Equitable Recovery

Unequal Impacts of Covid-19
T owards a more equitable post-COVID recovery

The actions that Ottawa takes could offer an opportunity to address some of the social inequities COVID-19 has exposed: that women are more often employed in marginal jobs; tend to make less money than men do; and represent the vast majority of health care, child care and elder care workers.

The many people who toil behind the scenes in low-wage, precarious jobs deserve inclusive workplaces that value diversity and are more equitable.
