Rural and urban High School Career Development in Alberta

comparisons of Alberta's urban and rural high schools
have been performed. The purpose of this pilot study
was to provide insight into the career development
opportunities available to Alberta's secondary  students
and how their availability and utilization   differs between
   urban and rural schools.

Scoping Review on Career and Vocational Development Education for Rural Transition-Age Youth

Rural communities benefit from hosting an active school,     but in an education system that values academics,
investing resources in student civic engagement is often
low on a school's  priority list. To help address this issue,
new policies, programs, and practices are being  designed
to serve the needs of students, schools, and communities
   in order to garner  maximum interest and support;
evaluations of new strategy outcomes are also necessary
to  ensure long-term relevance and sustainability. In this
review we provide a general  description of the curricular
   and extracurricular career education opportunities
available to  Canadian and American secondary students,
and of purported best practices within the  literature that
are meant to improve youth career development.
