Keeping Up With The EDC
Prince George's County EDC President David Iannucci had a chance to tour the Aster College Park project by Bozzuto, now under construction just south of the University of Maryland. Bozzuto, in partnership with the Terrapin Development Company, is building a 393 unit market rate apartment complex that will bring high quality housing and retail options to Prince George's County.

The 70,000 square feet retail portion of the project will feature an exciting new Calvert Street with an urban feel and a sought after new grocery option. Construction is far along, with the first portions of the project slated to open in the summer of 2022, and completion in the fall of 2022. Prince George's County provided substantial assistance to the Aster in the form of a PILOT and the EDI Fund, and federally authorized Opportunity Zone financing was a critical element in the project going forward. Prince George's County headquartered Bozzuto's leadership deserves recognition for its commitment to finding a way to make this important mixed use development a reality.

PRINCE GEORGE’S DESERVES A NATURAL CROWN FROM FABULOCS

Meet Nimat Bilal, owner of Fabulocs Natural Hair Products and Services in Glenarden, Maryland. Nimat has been helping Prince Georgians have a naturally beautiful “crown” since 2015.

Fabulocs is more than just a place to naturally style your hair, they are known for their ability to repair and assist hair and locs towards lifelong health and success. This is extremely evident in their exclusive line of natural hair care products.

Similar to other businesses COVID-19 has dramatically affected Fabulocs. When the government required them to temporarily shut down,  Ms. Bilal was forced to permanently  close their District Heights location and significantly reduce the occupancy in their Glenarden location. However, being a proud native Prince Georgian, Nimat was able to make it through the storm by receiving a few grants and SBA loans. As well as increasing the online sales of their natural hair care product line.

As the County is safely beginning to re-open, Fabulocs is operating with a limited capacity and will slowly expand to handle more customers. For as Nimat Bilal stated, “Prince George’s County is the Mecca of natural hair and customers will drive from as far away as North Carolina just to get their hair done here.”

If you are looking for a “natural” hair style ranging from funky and exotic to conservative and professional, Fabulocs is the place for you. To book your next appointment or to order moisturizers, cleansers, and other Fabulocs products please visit www.fabulocs.com/ to keep your crown looking like royalty.

The Maryland PTAC and Prince Georges County Economic Development Corporation invite you to participate in a "Marketing to Prime Construction Companies" event, a free webinar with prime contractors who have been awarded state and federally funded construction contracts.

This is a unique opportunity to gain insight into what prime contractors look for when evaluating bids from subcontractors, identify "best practices" for preparing quotes and responding to solicitations. This event will include a dedicated question and answer session with participating prime contractors.
