Performing over 80 shows so far throughout 2017 and 2018 Max Weinberg’s Jukebox continues to barnstorm the country, blasting out the hits!

As Chuck Berry instructed us in his classic “School Days,”…drop the coin right into the slot” audiences have thoroughly embraced the idea of picking and calling out the songs the band pays—in real time and in a variety of intimate venues. From Beatles to Bruce and Stones to Steppenwolf the band infuses these classics with the respect the songs deserve.

VIP Meet and Greet tickets are available and include a performance ticket and a post-performance photo-op with Mr. Weinberg and one (1) personalized autograph. Thursday, April 25th at 7:30pm.
For Diane, everyone else comes first. Generous but with little patience for self-pity, she spends her days checking in on sick friends, volunteering at her local soup kitchen, and trying valiantly to save her troubled, drug-addicted adult son (Jake Lacy) from himself. But beneath her relentless routine of self-sacrifice, Diane is fighting a desperate internal battle, haunted by a past she can't forget and which threatens to tear her increasingly chaotic world apart. Built around an extraordinary, fearless performance from Mary Kay Place, the narrative debut from Kent Jones is a profound, beautifully human portrait of a woman rifling through the wreckage of her life in search of redemption. Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28.
Writer, actress, and storyteller Candice Guardino is quickly making a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Her creative brand of comedy and family humor is captivating audiences by embodying multi- dimensional characters she creates. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Staten Island, Candice’s family always spoke at full volume. But they weren’t fighting, “that’s just how they communicated.” Within this 85 minute Theatrical Comedy, Candice slips in & out of her family impersonations as she cooks up a full meal of growing up Staten Island. The stories in “Italian Bred” are derived from Candice’s real childhood experiences. She recounts her upbringing by impersonating her family’s unique personalities, especially that of her outspoken, Grandma Frannie’s unfiltered words & wisdom.

This program is a part of Hopewell Theater's ongoing series, The Art of Living Well , featuring inspiring films, speakers and interactive discussions exploring ways of cultivating serenity, meaning and a deeper connection to one’s self and the world.
In the politically fraught climate of Chicago in 1968, two young nuns crisscross the city in order to ask strangers the question, "Are you happy?" The answers vary: "Happiness is the absence of fear," "Avoiding people," "Raspberries," "Joy in knowing Christ." They meet a lonely girl, a happy mother, young lovers, hippie musicians, a sociologist and even character actor Stepin Fetchit. The humor and sadness of these honest encounters lift the film beyond its conceit into a serious and moving inquiry into contemporary society and the circumstances under which people examine their lives. Tuesday, April 30th at 7:00pm.

Bread and Puppet Theater present Diagonal Life: Theory and Praxis
Diagonals are created from the leaning power of hurt verticals," says Peter Schumann, founder and director of Bread and Puppet Theater, which will present their new play, Diagonal Life: Theory and Praxis, at Hopewell Theater on May 9th. We inhabitants of Western modernity are no strangers to verticality, from the architecture of our cities, to the "ladder(s) of success" we're asked to scale, to the incessant wakefulness required of us, postponing the horizontal pleasures of sleep. Bread and Puppet's Diagonal Life presents the diagonal as a potent and promising opposition to the dominating verticality of our culture. Puppeteers long ago realized that the most aesthetically radical movements for puppets are diagonals, because these movements are cannot be sustained by human actors or dancers for more than a moment. (Gymnasts upsidedown themselves frequently and with ease, but diagonal positions remain inaccessible without the use of puppet.) Diagonal Life brings all the bewildering, beguiling, and downright funny possibilities and implications of diagonality to life with song, dance, magic, mechanism, and stunning cardboard and paper maché puppets painted in Peter Schumann's exuberant, slapdash expressionist style.

The Bread and Puppet Theater was founded in 1963 by Peter Schumann on New York City’s Lower East Side. Besides rod-puppet and hand puppet shows for children, the concerns of the first productions were rents, rats, police, and other problems of the neighborhood. In 1974 Bread and Puppet moved to a farm in Glover in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Bread and Puppet is one of the oldest, nonprofit, self-supporting theatrical companies in the country.

Comedy Night:
John Poveromo &
Joanne Filan
A Brooklyn-born and Jersey-raised Stand Up, John Poveromo’s perfect blend of self deprecation and optimism makes him a dynamic and unpredictable performer that’s both engaging and fun to watch as he struggles to make sense of himself and the world around him. John has been featured in the New York Times and the Asbury Park Press. He can be heard on Sirius XM Radio, has been featured at the Jersey City Comedy Festival, The New York Underground Comedy Festival and appeared on Comcast On Demand's "Young Comedians Showcase." John has lent his writing talents to a variety of shows, including ESPN's Sports Nation, Current TV's Viewpoint with John Fugelsang, Joy Behar's 'Say Anything' on HLN, The Independents, CNN's Newsroom as well as Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld, Hannity and VH1's "Best Of" series.

Growing up in New Jersey (but refusing to die there), Joanne Filan is over a decade into the business and has never been more on top of her game. She consistently delivers a unique “stream of consciousness” style of humor full of random thoughts and quirky observations that keep audiences either rolling in the aisles or on the edges of their seats, anxious to hear what she has to say next. With an amazing gift for improv, razor-sharp wit, and a subtle delivery, Joanne is an unexpected gem- a comedian so able to tap into the moment that no two shows are ever alike. Wednesday, June 12 at 7:30pm.
