Vision:
Knowing we are One, we celebrate peace,
compassion, and equality for all.
Mission:
We empower people to live thriving spiritual lives.
From the Minister

Dear Unity Friends,

As we prepare to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day this Monday, I am struck by a powerful comment his daughter, Rev. Bernice King, posted on Twitter yesterday. She wrote, “We can’t skip justice and get to peace.”

This is true of unity, as well.

You see, the word “unity” has been banted about quite a bit in the aftermath of the assault on our nation’s capital last week. Since I am a Unity Minister, it seems fitting to address this idea and how some have said we should just forgive and move on.

Unity does not mean we spiritually bypass this moment of national reckoning to simply hold hands and sing Kumbaya. If we are to heal the great divide, it must start with the truth about agents of racism in our country and the dangerous, deadly and disrespectful hostility they perpetuate toward people of color.

As many have affirmed this week, accountability is critical for healing.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “True peace, is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.”

Inspired by his wisdom, I offer you this: true unity is not merely the absence of discord; it is the presence of justice. And so, let us hold the light of justice to bring about unity.

There is much for which to be hopeful. We are the ones.

In Love and Unity,
Rev. Anne Tabor

Unity Principle #2: Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ Spirit within. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.

Given the trying times we are living in, this spiritual principle in particular is relevant—and—it can be a theological challenge! After all, if we are expressions of God… why do people behave so badly? Join Rev. Anne as she continues her back-to-basics Sunday Message Series, “Unity in a Nutshell 2021,” and we explore what it means to be made in the image and likeness of God.

Unity Principle #3: Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.

There is a reason this principle is called “The Granddaddy of All Laws!” Known also as The Law of Mind Action, this tenant teaches us that the thoughts we hold in mind produce after their kind. Another way of expressing this is… what we choose to focus on expands in our lives.

Fortunately, these are only thoughts. As Louise Hay said, “and a thought can be changed.” Join Rev. Anne for part three of her Sunday Message Series, “Unity in a Nutshell 2021,” and find out how you can practice putting this powerful spiritual principle to work in your life.

FOR THE COMMON GOOD
More Than Half of Covid Spread
Comes From People Without Symptoms

Nearly 60 percent of all Covid-19 spread may come from people with no symptoms, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published Thursday, January 7, 2021.

Using mathematical modeling, CDC researchers estimated that 35 percent of Covid-19 spread is from people who are contagious before they develop symptoms, called presymptomatic transmission. Another 24 percent comes from people who are truly asymptomatic, and never go on to develop symptoms.

Such widespread asymptomatic transmission means that simply identifying and isolating people who have symptoms of Covid-19 "will not control the ongoing spread of SARS-CoV-2," the virus that causes Covid-19, the study authors wrote.

Rather, the findings mean that everyday behaviors to mitigate the spread of the virus are even more critical:

  • Wear a mask, and wear it properly, with both nose and mouth covered..
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Protect coughs by coughing and sneezing into your elbow and/or a tissue.
  • Frequently clean surfaces that are often touched, especially doorknobs, door frames, telephones, keyboards, and bathroom areas.
  • Use hand sanitizer.
  • Stay home if you are not feeling well.

UNITY'S FIVE BASIC PRINCIPLES

Principle #1:
There is only one Presence and one Power in the Universe and in my life, God the Good.

Principle #2:
Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within.
Their essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.

Principle #3:
Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking.
Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.

Principle #4:
Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God Mind and therefore brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity, and everything good.

Principle #5:
Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough.
A person must live the truth he or she knows.
CORE VALUES
Spirit-Led:
Centered in the awareness of God's presence, we turn within for divine guidance in
all we do.

Love:
Love is our True Nature. We express the harmonizing power of love to see good everywhere and in everybody. Love binds together the whole human family.

Diversity:
We believe that all people are created with sacred worth. In a spirit of Unity, we embrace each person as an expression of God grounded in truth and love.

Connection:
We live, love, and laugh from our Oneness with God. We honor our inter-connectedness with each other, with all life, and the earth.

Abundance:
God is our Infinite Source of Good. We gratefully demonstrate prosperity in all areas
of our lives. We wisely use our wealth of resources to serve our spiritual community and the world.

Service:
We cultivate enlightened leadership by practicing the teachings of Jesus the Christ through sacred service. It is a blessing to serve locally and globally.

Integrity:
We consciously choose to practice living our Core Values and Unity Principles rather than simply professing them. We choose to communicate from the heart with authenticity and deliver on our commitments with reliability.
