PCSL/Illinois Fire Junior Families,

As we head into the back half of April, I hope you and your families continue to stay safe.  I also hope your players have been able to enjoy some of the virtual training programs our coaches have been holding. If you were not aware of these programs, be sure to follow us on Facebook for training updates, coach interviews and player updates.

Yesterday, both of our governing bodies - United States Youth Soccer (USYS) and Illinois Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) have extended the suspension of youth soccer actives through May 15th. Our board had been anticipating this and wanted to communicate some changes in the short term schedule and how we are planning for the summer months.

Travel teams

IFJ Spring Shootout : Regrettably, we have made the decision to cancel our Spring Tournament. We are exploring the possibility of having a summer tournament and will share those details as plans solidify. We also know this tournament provided parents with opportunities for volunteer hours. With the likelihood of an abbreviated season we are also evaluating what this means for those who planned to volunteer.

Super Y League : The decision was also made to cancel the Super Y league this summer. Further communications will be going out this week specific to Super Y.

Tryouts : We've received several questions on tryouts and the plan for the summer.   Our Board and Coaching staff is working to create a new timeline for tryouts.

Recreational and Travel

Summer Soccer Possibility : Soon, parents will receive a communication from either their coach, team manager or league administrator regarding the interest in summer soccer. We will be gauging interest from coaches as well as players as we work to provide both our Travel and Recreational teams soccer opportunities.

The IYSA board is holding a meeting this Saturday, so it's very likely we will have further updates for you next week. During this time, we wanted to make sure we communicate what we know as soon as possible and will provide updates as we have them.

As always, please continue to stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing everyone on the field!
