Today’s home office: Laura Gordon,
Account/Payroll Tech, Sr, with the Foundation
1. Describe your home office: When the nation started to shut down, two of our college-age children moved home. We currently have four adults working from home. We are lucky to have enough space to spread out. My husband and I were sharing his home office but he takes a lot of calls. So I now work from my “she shed."
2. What is a typical day for you working from home?
So far, I have adapted to working from home pretty well. Two challenges for me are: Using a laptop mouse, which takes me longer to navigate between two screens. My husband ordered a regular mouse - I’ll be super happy when it gets here! Second, using the VPN, I have to email myself anything I need to print. Otherwise it prints to my work printer.
I also really miss my workers. We have a great team!
3. What tip would you pass on to other GCCCD employees?
Don't let your work time bleed into your personal time. I find w
orking from home makes it harder to walk away from work at the end of my shift. My husband has started to come out to the shed to tell me it’s time to stop.
Share your new working conditions with your fellow employees and we'll feature them in the Remote Report. Take a photo of you in your home office and answer the three questions above. Send them to
