DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS
Botanic Park Opening May 1
May Day has traditionally been celebrated with colorful baskets and dancing around a maypole covered with flowers and ribbon. This May Day, visit the Yampa River Botanic Park and celebrate the awakening flowers. Search the park for Glory of the Snow, Daffodils, Hellebores and very tiny Saxifrages. The park is open to the public from dawn until dusk and admission is free.
Summer Adult Sports Leagues
Team up to score the most out of summer. Registration for all Summer Adult Sports Leagues is now open. This includes Ice Hockey, Softball, Volleyball and Soccer. The registration deadline for most sports is Tuesday, May 21, with leagues swinging into action in late May and early June. Have fun, socialize, and get some exercise in our Adult Sports Leagues this summer!
High Water Preparation
While peak flows can vary, the Yampa River generally peaks in late May to early June. Smaller tributaries, such as Burgess, Spring and Butcherknife Creeks can peak significantly earlier in the year. Residents should take precautionary measures now to prevent damage from high water and potential flooding. Act now to keep your property safe from high water this spring.
