Dear Normandale Families,

Planned Absence Form

Do you have a trip or a holiday coming up that you'll need to miss school for?  This form or these instructions are for you! Please submit the form to the Normandale office or enter the absence online at least five school days prior to departure. Per School Board Policy 503, forms not turned in 5 school days prior to being absent will result in the absence being marked as unexcused.

Attendance Reminders

  • If your student will be absent please call the Attendance Line at 952-848-4102 or enter it online using these instructions.
  • Make sure to state a reason for the absence so that it is properly marked as excused or unexcused.
  • Excused Absences Include:
  • Illness (doctor’s note may be required after 3 sick days)
  • Religious holiday or observance
  • School sponsored activities
  • Emergency conditions such as fire or flood
  • Death or terminal illness in the student’s immediate family, a close friend, or relative
  • Absences that are approved 5-days in advance
  • If your student has any signs of illness, please fill out the COVID/Illness Reporting Form in addition to calling the attendance line.
  • Any partial day absence greater than 30 minutes will be marked as a half-day absence.
  • If your student will be late for school, please report it by calling the attendance line or online through Infinite Campus. Please do not email the office staff as emails may not be viewed until after attendance is finalized. If your student is leaving early or has a change in dismissal plans, please send a note with them for their teacher.
  • Call the main office at 952-848-4100 to report last minute change of student dismissal plans.
  • If your student is arriving late to school or leaving early, parents need to come into the building to sign their student ‘in’ or ‘out.’

If you have questions regarding attendance, please do not hesitate to reach out to Shannon Case at Shannon.Case@edinaschools.org.

BACK TO BORDEAUX 2022

Dear 5th grade families,

We are excited to announce an informational meeting about our POSSIBLE amazing opportunity for adventure and learning, the Back-to-Back exchange trip to Bordeaux, France in June 2022. The meeting will be held September 29th at 4:30 PM in the Media Center

We will have a general overview (preview slides here), the logistics of the trip and what to expect as well as time for questions.

Sign-up deadline is set for now as November 1, so there is still time to decide if this trip is right for your student and family.

Can’t make the meeting? Take a look at our website. Then, fill out the form that says you might be interested (this is not an application or any kind of commitment).

Most warmly,

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

virus-4958150_1920.jpg

The Minnesota Department of Health is requesting that schools continue to track COVID related cases among their student population.

Covid/Illness Reporting Form - Please use this form to report your child’s absence due to illness. It is helpful to us in tracking illness related absences and which families we need to follow up with to guide through the decision tree.

As always, call if you need consultation on whether or not your child should stay home, get tested, and where to get tested. We’re here to help!

HEALTH OFFICE NEEDS

Looking to clear out some of your kids old clothes? We’re running out of extra clothes in the health office! We are in need of boys pants and shorts, underwear for little kids (new please), socks, plastic grocery bags (for soiled clothes) and huggies wipes. Of course, anything donated is greatly appreciated- thank you!

MEET THE INTERN

JULIETTE RIBOULET- KINDERGARTEN

About me...: Hi everyone! I am Juliette, I am 22. I live in Clermont-Ferrand in Auvergne which is a pretty part of France with a lot of mountains.

I live with my parents (Agnès and Jean-Christophe who are a journalist and a judge) and.... Mallow, my lovely cat !!

I also have a brother, Thomas, who is 4 years older than me. He is an engineer and a very good magician. I love them all very much. Through the year, I am a fifth year student in education to be a teacher, and during summer I am an animator in summer camps! Concerning my hobbies, I love dancing (modern' jazz, contemporary) and playing theater! Actually I love humor and I am a very joyful person :)

In The US...: During my internship, I would like travel (Minnesota, Chicago, New-York, Nouvelle-Orléan...) and see the North Lakes! I hope I could see some American games (basketball, baseball, hockey...) and American concerts or festivals! I wish I could also do some sports (different than in France), and learn new dances.

My favorite food…: My favorite food... Actually, I am a very greedy person... So I like a lot of things! Crêpes, Raclette, salmon, I love pasta and pizza too. And I love fruits!

I am excited about…: I am exciting about meeting my host family and learning about the American culture! I am exciting about visiting and travelling the USA.

I am exciting about meeting Hope Heffelfinger and her whole class, learning about the job and teaching French to children. I am exciting about meeting all the other interns and creating with them like another family.
