November 2019

It's always bittersweet to look out at the still and quiet reservoir this time of year.  Despite record breaking snowfall in October, these last few weeks provided plenty of sunshine which allowed our crew to get the remaining boats out of the water.  The docks are currently islands now that the gangways have been put away for the winter. T hings are slowing down which means Jared and Evan are busy putting together their winter project lists. Fiberglass, gel coat, rigging, and engine work, we've got you covered this winter! If you have something you would like worked on please don't hesitate to reach out as our service team is more than happy to help.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we want to say how grateful we are to each and every one of you. We hope your holiday is filled with family, friends and food. Have a wonderful Turkey Day and we'll see you back in December.

From the Crow's Nest

Hi Everybody,

After Winter's warning shot in early October, the sun prevailed and gave us a nice window to put this place away for the season. The boats are out, gangways stored, and the place is looking good.

As you might imagine, boat covers are top of mind around here this time of year. I want to share a product that I have watched perform well over the last few seasons. Yes, I watch boat covers. It's more exciting than watching paint dry and right on par with feeding pigeons. Now, I am not interested in losing service revenue, however, I am very interested in good value to our customers and finding ways to keep all of us in the sport. The covers are from www.shipshapecanvas.com and we have two here at the marina.   These covers are on large Hunter sailboats down here in the lower yard and I have been impressed with their ease of install, fit and snow shed.  One of the covers was purchased this Fall and in conversations with the boat owner, it sounds like a relatively painless process, the price point is reasonable and it's my understanding that if you purchase in the "off season" they offer free shipping. If you find yourself looking for an alternative option other than shrink wrap it may be worth investigating as the return on investment looks good. Of course, we would be happy to install, remove and store these covers for you.

On a personal note, my twin daughters turned 18 on November 20th!  11/20/2001 was the day that our girls became Earthlings and it has been an honor to be their father for the last 18 years. Friends of mine recently had their first child and I was trying to describe my journey as a parent. I told them that it's like filling your gas tank on a road trip. As you watch the fuel gauge drop, full to half full lasts forever. Half full to empty accelerates exponentially. Well......to my wife Allison, thank you for being such an amazing Mother and partner. To my girls Logan and Mackenna, keep up the good work! Knowing you gives me hope for the future and I couldn't be prouder of exactly who you are.

Happy Thanksgiving! As always, we are here for you. If there is anything, we can help with please don't hesitate to ask.

Back Office News!

By Karlee Ferris

Now that things are winding down in the shop, I am busy getting everything ready for the 2020 season. My main priority is slip renewals! Remember you MUST complete a new lease agreement every year and you are not guaranteed a slip until you return the lease and pay your annual fee. Read below for some helpful information on slip renewals.

Marina Slip Renewal Information
  • Renewals will go out via EMAIL the first week of January. You can access the documents through that email or in your Online Portal account.
  • You will stay in the same spot UNLESS you request to move spaces.  If you wish to move spaces you will need to request to be put on the "transfer list" which has a $25 fee.
  • Everyone will receive a spring work order.  We do not send out work orders individually as it is very time consuming. If you DO NOT need it, simply open the document & click "reject."
  • All renewals are due by March 1st. However, if you pay on or before February 1st, you will receive a 2% discount off your slip or storage fee.
  • If you would like to stop in to fill out your lease please stop by I am in the office Monday -Friday between the hours of 9:00 am-4:30 pm. I'm happy to help you.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
