#LOVE

Since its very beginning, Bridges To Life's mission statement has included a spiritual intention: "to show victims and offenders the transforming power of God's love and forgiveness." We believe that love is what makes our program work, as seen in these words recently shared by a BTL volunteer:

"As a crime victim speaker for BTL, I have now told my story half a dozen times at several different prisons. Every time I finish, I'm thanked and praised by the inmates for my courage, and at least one will come up and say how sorry they are for my experience. It never fails to amaze me that, as my heart opens to the inmates, their hearts open to me, and then Love comes in and does its healing work."

Wishing you each God's love on this Valentine's Day,

John
A RECORD-BREAKING YEAR

Not only did Bridges To Life celebrate its 20th anniversary last year, we also broke many new records! In 2018, BTL...
  • completed 191 projects in 105 prison units and alternative facilities
  • graduated over 6,400 men and women from our program
  • reached our lowest cost of just $201 per graduate
  • received the assistance of 864 volunteers who donated over 80,600 hours valued at $1,992,285
  • passed the milestone of 45,000 total graduates!
To the all the volunteers and donors who helped make this possible in 2018, THANK YOU! By offering the transformational BTL program, we are enhancing the safety and quality of life of our communities.

MEET OUR NEWEST STAFF MEMBER

Please join us in welcoming BTL's new Southeast Texas Regional Coordinator, James Prochazka. A native Texan from Crosby, James has been married to wife Cindy for 32 years. They have three children and two grandchildren.

Like many of BTL's staff, James has a family member who was a victim of crime; his father was murdered in 1995 during a petty robbery. Though years of anger and bitterness followed, James ultimately recovered  with the help and support of his Catholic faith

After retiring from a career with ConocoPhillips in 2015, James turned his attention to prison ministry as a result of his spiritual journey. Through his volunteer work with St. Kolbe Prison Ministries, he was introduced to Bridges To Life last year and was quickly recognized for his dedication and leadership in the BTL project coordinator role.  James has now joined the BTL staff as Regional Coordinator for our expanding Southeast Texas region. Welcome aboard, James!
