DECEMBER 2020
CELEBRATIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES
The United Way of Greater Greensboro, City of Greensboro, and the foundation created an emergency response plan after the tornado relief effort. With this framework, we were able to work together to help alleviate some of the impact of the pandemic.

Thanks to your generosity, the Greensboro Virus Relief Taskforce has granted a total of $2,512,188 to over 100 local nonprofits helping thousands of individuals and families. [The e-newsletter sent yesterday mistakenly listed the total as over $2 billion. Our apologies for the typographical error.]

Our partnerships did not stop there. The foundation granted $100,500 to Guilford Education Alliance for their Laptop Project to help decrease the digital divide with Guilford County Schools' students thrusted into online learning. The CFGG Staff Giving Circle made a grant to Downtown Greensboro, Inc. to feed frontline workers. From housing to revolving loans to masks/PPE to Zoom licenses, the foundation helped you increase giving and maximize opportunities.

Women to Women Donate $150,000 to Virus Relief in 2020

This year, Women to Women hosted its first “Non-Event” instead of its traditional fall luncheon that allowed guests to stay home and make a direct contribution to provide for the basic needs of struggling women and their families in Guilford County. Throughout the month of October, donations exceeded $37,000, which Women to Women matched, resulting in a second $75,000 donation to the Virus Relief Fund. When added to the first $75,000 donation made earlier in the year, the Women to Women Endowment has donated $150,000 to help women and their families who have been impacted by coronavirus and the economic consequences of this outbreak.

A Mural to Celebrate Dance
The Public Art Endowment gave Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc. a $500 grant to create a mural at LeBauer Park to participate in “2020 National Dance Day GSO." A local visual artist, Darlene McClinton, teamed with a local choreographer to produce a mural in the pavilion of LeBauer Park near “Where We Met’. This mural prompted movement experiences by visitors through strategic design elements that inspire a dance response.
