HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION (TBA)
The Brunswick County Solid Waste Department is in the process of implementing a permanent household hazardous waste (HHW) collection at the county’s landfill site. The two annual events in Shallotte and Southport are discontinued. We are hoping to have this facility opened during the fall of 2020. Please email Operation Services to be added to an email list to be notified when this program is scheduled to begin.
The Great American Cleanup is in it's 22nd year!! It's one of the largest community improvement programs in the nation. The program usually takes place during the spring months but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program was suspended. Health and government officials felt to slow the spread of the virus, all large gatherings and events needed to be avoided.

On June 1st, Keep America Beautiful announced the GAC would be resuming and will last through October 18th. While the virus may differ according to geographic location, volunteers are encouraged to follow any guidance from officials in their community.

For those that are not able to participate, KAB has created an alternative virtual event. It includes a virtual park where one can clean and beautify the park. To participate in this virtual event, visit the Great America Cleanup Virtual Experience .
