A Word from the President
As I drive to work every morning I pass a lot in my housing community still waiting to be built upon, and over the past week couldn't help but marvel at the sea of yellow growing on it.  Dandelions. The vision is of a beautiful, vibrant yellow field, but...they're dandelions.

According to the Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association website, "o nly in the twentieth century did humans decide that the dandelion was a weed. Before the invention of lawns, the golden blossoms and lion-toothed leaves were more likely to be praised as a bounty of food, medicine and magic. Gardeners used to weed out the grass to make room for the dandelions."  Like events that happen in our lives, perception is everything.  We all have the opportunity to label the events that we experience as a weed, or something magical that adds to our character and strength. As for me, the next time something challenging comes my way I'm going to try my best to remember that beautiful sea of yellow, and rather than labeling my challenge as a weed will instead think of it as another magical experience of life.  I hope you're enjoying the season and all the colors - and challenges - that come with it!
