May 2020

Dear Aspen Junior Hockey members,

As a board, we recognize that for many of you, the departure of Shaun Hathaway as our Executive Director in March was sudden. After six and a half years of working with AJH, the board felt that it was time for the program to move in a different direction. This direction is one of cohesion, equity, superior coaching and support, shared vision, increased family involvement and increased community involvement.

Since we started the search for a new director, we have received over a hundred resumes for this job, from all over the country and a few from outside of the country. There are a lot of very talented and qualified applicants that are interested in this role. After reviewing the resumes and meeting with several candidates via zoom, we are proud to announce that we have narrowed this list down to four outstanding applicants.

Our next step is to hold second, in person interviews with the four finalists by the middle of June. Our goal is to have a new Executive Director in place this summer so that we can move forward with the upcoming ‘20-‘21 season, whatever that may look like given the current state of ice time and social distancing.

We are working on our COVID re-entry business plan in conjunction with local regulations. We are in close contact with Aspen Recreation Director Cory Vander Veen, and we will keep you posted as we learn more. In the meantime,  here  is the link to the current messaging from the ARC related to facility closures.

We know you are all eager to get back on the ice and we are too!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of the board members – listed below.

Sincerely,

The Aspen Junior Hockey Board
