St. Andrew's Youth News
Whoever Wants To Be First
Greetings dear friends!

In our Gospel lesson this week (Mark 9:30-37), I believe we encounter another 'face palm Jesus' moment. Jesus has once again foretold his suffering and death to his closest friends, and rather than ask questions or express their concern, the disciples bumble along the road from Galilee to Capernaum arguing about which one of them is 'best'. *insert Jesus face palm*

Then Jesus really upsets the apple cart and tells them that whichever one of them wants to be 'first', top of the class, a gold star student, must become last and serve ALL.

Last night at high school youth group, I read this lesson and posed three questions and I encourage your family to ponder them this week.

-When have you been 'last' (overlooked, pushed aside, etc.)

-When have you been 'first' and it wasn't as great as you'd imagined it to be?

-When have you seen/heard/worked/helped someone who might be considered 'last' to become 'first'?

Sending my love to all of you!

Please let me know what I can do to help support you and your youth.
