Weekly Framework
When fear of failure really takes over, you begin to avoid taking risks - because every risk includes a possibility that you will fail, that you will lose face, that you will embarrass yourself or people will laugh at you. When this happens, you may miss out on some of the most amazing blessings in your life. What can we do with our fear of failure?
Wednesday's Devotional
As Israel neared the Promised Land, Moses sent 12 men to scout the land (Numbers 13:1-3). When the scouts returned to give their report, ten of them focused on obstacles and problems, and were terrified. Long before David faced Goliath, they were frightened of the "huge men" they saw in the Promised Land. Only Caleb (along with Joshua-Numbers 14:6) focused on God's promise and power, and pleaded with people to keep moving forward.
For reflection:
* This story shows two things about fear. First, it's contagious-the 10 scouts' fear spread to most of the people. Second, it clouds the ability to think clearly-once afraid, the people thought irrationally, "Wouldn't it be better for us to return to Egypt?" Can you think of times when fear has magnified a challenge you faced, or led you to a damaging response? How can you avoid being a source of contagious fear for others?
* Camped right on the borders of the Promised Land, Israel turned away because fear got the better of them. Are there any "frontiers," spiritual or emotional as well as physical, you sense God might be calling you to cross? What fears arise in your heart as you think about where God may be calling you? How can you develop the kind of faith Caleb and Joshua showed?

Lord God,
had you been governed by fear, you'd no doubt have stayed safely away from this broken, sometimes hostile planet. Please keep infusing your holy fearlessness into my heart and life.

Asbury will be assisting the Sixth Street Shelter by collecting needed supplies for the Shelter. Donations are being collected from
4:00 - 6:00 PM on Friday, 5/29 and from 10 am - noon on Saturday, 5/30 in the church's upper parking lot. For the safety of all,
social distancing with be practiced during this time.
Items currently most in need of are:
Paper towels
Laundry detergents (no perfume or dyes if possible)
Mops (prefer Libman Wonder twist mops, they last us a lot longer)
Brooms
Hand soap
Baby wipes (sensitive skin if possible)
all-purpose cleaners
dish washing liquid
Windex glass cleaners
Stove top cleaner for electric range
Oven cleaners
Diapers (sizes 2,4, 5 & 6)
Items listed may be out of stock. Substitutions are welcome and are gladly accepting donations shipped directly to the shelter location.

Do you remember our definition for determination? Determination is deciding it's worth it to finish what you've started. That's easier said than done right? Because sometimes we get tired. Sometimes the task ahead seems impossibly big.
What if you took a cue from Anna in Frozen 2 and simply chose the next right thing? In the song, Anna sings about not looking too far ahead and making the next right choice.
Anna sang this song because she felt completely alone.
But when it comes to following God, we are never alone.
Maybe instead of thinking about the great big thing in front of you, you should start smaller instead. Just do the next right thing-the thing right in front of you. Ask God to remind you that He is with you every step of the way so that you can keep going, even when it's tough.

Please know that during the time that the office is closed, all calls to Asbury are being received by our answering service, as there is no one available in the office to take your call. Any messages you leave with the answering service are forwarded to us and we will relay your message to the appropriate staff member to respond to you as soon as possible.
Asbury is
now a drop-off site for home-sewn masks for Lehigh Valley Health Network. The collection bin is located at the doors by the upper entrance to the building. If you're able to sew masks, but not able to deliver them,
email Pastor Barbara to get connected with a helper. We do not have supplies available to offer; but could help coordinate a pickup for an order you place at a local fabric or craft store that's offering curbside pickup.

St. Luke's is also collecting personal protective equipment (PPE). Learn more about the items they're accepting and their drop-off locations (their Care Now urgent care locations in Allentown, Whitehall, Bethlehem, and more)
