April 3, 2020 - News & Notes
Dear St. Michael Catholic School Families:
In all of my training and years of planning, I never imagined that I would be preparing my staff, students and families for what has transpired. I thank you for your continued, rich partnership with all of the St. Michael Catholic School staff throughout these changes. Thank you for working with us to resolve any technology needs or issues. We are all experiencing this together and we are blessed by you.

What a blessing that we can unite in our faith to pray and come together during this unsettling time. Please see a tentative schedule, below, for your family to join with our greater school and parish community in celebrating Holy Week together, from your home.

ADDITIONAL PICK UP TIME MONDAY (10-Noon) : Did you forget something at school? Is there something in your child's desk or locker that you would like to pick up? I will be in the school office on Monday, April 6 from 10-Noon. If this time does not work, please reach out to my email, below.

FAMILY HARDSHIP : If during this time you find that your family is in a financial hardship, please reach out directly to me and we will support your family. We thank you for partnering with us and we want you to know that we are dedicated to supporting you, our teachers and staff, and praying for our world. In addition, our District is offering curbside pick up for meals if your family is in need. The meals are at West Wood elementary from 11 to 1 p.m. Our District is also offering care for essential workers. Through our parent survey, we only had three families possibly looking for care as essential employees. If you find in the weeks ahead that you are struggling with care or tuition, please email me.

Next week I will send out a survey to all families to get your input on all that we are doing for online and distance learning. We want to continue to grow in online educational excellence to support each child, personally.

PRAYER: We invite every family to join in prayer. Stay connected through our parish and school with online prayers and streaming events. Please watch the parish website for up-to-date prayers and programs: Church FB Page . Click on this link: "Litany in Time of Need" to pray this at home.

In addition, some of our parish and school staff are calling parishioners at home to check on them. From health needs to loneliness and illness, many in our parish and school are asking for prayer. We are so thankful that you will join us in praying for our larger school and parish community.

Blessings,  Mindy Reeder, Principal   [email protected]

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
Mental Health Support: Please be aware that at this time our children are also feeling the anxiety of all that is happening around them. While school is closed, a routine is a healthy way of structuring your days. Included scheduled time for school work, outdoor play, free-choice reading, unstructured play and rest time. Address children's questions directly and honestly. Continuing with regular bed and meal times is also helpful. Limit exposure to media and screen time as well. Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
