School Board Approves Legislative Resolution Urging Leaders to Approve Emergency Relief Funds
On Monday, May 4, the  Wauwatosa School Board unanimously approved a legislative resolution   urging leaders to approve emergency relief funding to stabilize our kids’ public schools. This request urges the majority and minority leaders in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House to allocate at least $200 billion in K-12 federal emergency relief funding, including:

  • At least $175 billion: Provision of emergency funding directly to state governments to support local school districts.
  • At least $25 billion: $13 billion to support IDEA and $12 billion to support Title I.
  • At least $2 billion: Funding technology to further enable home-based learning and close inequities in broadband Internet access.

The Board urges Wauwatosa families to support the Board's actions by sending leaders your own message supporting this emergency stabilization funding.

Now Open: Select District Outdoor Fields + Spaces
Beginning on Monday, May 11, several of the District's outdoor field locations will be available for use. Please note that a reservation is required to access these spaces.



Tennis courts at Longfellow Middle School and West High School will also be open and will not require a reservation.

School Board approves new English Language Arts Comprehensive Literacy Framework

The School Board has approved a Comprehensive Literacy Framework that will close achievement gaps and drive increased equity and development among students.

Launching in the 2020-21 school year, the framework combines elements of widely-used existing resources including Fountas & Pinnel, Units of Study, Sonday Systems and Heggerty. More information about can be found on our website. 

Wauwatosa East High School Awarded $25k Technology + Engineering "Fab Lab" Grant
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has selected Wauwatosa East High School as a recipient of a $25,000 grant to fund new fabrication laboratory facilities, also known as a "Fab Lab."

Funds will be used to renovate East's existing Technology/Engineering space and better equip students with essential skills for today's global economy.

We are committed to keeping students engaged this summer with online course options that are accessible for all! From math, fine arts, science + technology and more, your student is sure to find a class they love.

Registration is now open for resident and non-resident families.


Library Curbside Pickup

Want to relax with a good book? We can help! We're now offering curbside library book pickup for elementary and middle school students. Books can be reserved online and picked up at Eisenhower, Roosevelt, Longfellow or Whitman.

District-Wide Virtual Recruitment Fair May 21st and 28th
Are you or someone you know an educator that values equity and has a drive to improve student learning? Then we want you! Attend our virtual recruitment fair where you can connect with a hiring manager, learn more about our District and jump start the next step in your career.

  • Thursday, May 21 from from 3:30-4:30 pm (special services only, including special education, occupational therapy, counselors and more)
  • Thursday, May 28 from 3:30-4:30 pm (all grades/subjects including special services)

Special Delivery: Longfellow staff delivers meals to Froedtert healthcare workers
To thank local heroes for their hard work, staff at Longfellow Middle School raised $1,000 and partnered with Leff's Lucky Town to prepare and deliver 120 meals for the ED (formerly ER) and Pulmonary Units at Froedtert Hospital. The crew also showed off their creative side and left colorful chalk messages for hospital workers.

Tosa East Players performance of Seussical the Musical earns prestigious Jerry Award
The Jerry Awards are Wisconsin's wing of The National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA). This season, 85 productions were judged, but only 16 productions in Wisconsin have earned the title Outstanding Musical . Productions that win this award excel in acting (leads, supporting roles and ensemble), set design, sound, costuming, lighting, choreography, musical direction, props design, stage management and direction.

In addition to the overall Outstanding Musical award, several individual students have earned recognition including:

Ready, Set, Create! Elementary Art Online Gallery
In an effort to allow Wauwatosa Elementary students to showcase their imaginations and celebrate each other's work, the Elementary Art Department has curated students' work into an online gallery. Educators have been sharing prompts with students to stimulate creativity.

" So many of the prompts and ensuing email conversations with our students have brought smiles to our faces," say Sherril Knezel and Betsy Callahan, Elementary Art Show Coordinators.
