NBCRNA Closely Monitors COVID-19; Extends CPC Deadline
|
|
After carefully monitoring the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, NBCRNA announced on March 24, 2020, that it would be extending the CPC certification renewal deadline by four months to November 30, 2020.
The NBCRNA recognizes the extraordinary impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on every individual, business and family, while creating unprecedented challenges for the CRNA community. We realize some CRNAs may be unable to meet the CE requirements necessary to renew their credential due to the cancellation of recent continuing education meetings and other learning opportunities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. So, based on our ongoing communications with the Council on Accreditation (COA), the AANA, our testing vendors, CE providers, and members of the nurse anesthesia community, the NBCRNA is taking steps to help allay expressed concerns about meeting the Continued Professional Certification (CPC) Program requirements to renew your CRNA credential.
The NBCRNA has made the following adjustment to the CPC Program timeline and deadlines to provide some relief from the many timing constraints everyone is currently facing.
- The NBCRNA is extending the July 31, 2020 certification renewal deadline by four months to November 30, 2020, allowing additional time to fulfill the CPC requirements.
This one-time adjustment applies to CRNAs who are due to renew their certification by July 31, 2020. Although the change in the deadline would not affect future CPC cycle deadlines for those individuals, it will allow them additional time to earn any remaining Class A and Class B credits necessary to meet the requirement of this current 4-year CPC cycle.
For the many who have already earned your requirements over the past four years and are ready to apply for your certification renewal, we encourage you to do so once the applications open on
April 14, 2020
. You will remain on schedule and can begin accumulating your Class A and Class B credits for your next 4-year CPC cycle after your application is approved.

NBCRNA Concludes Nationwide Value of the Credential Survey; Report Available Later this Year
|
|
How do you value the CRNA credential and what does it mean to you? The NBCRNA recently invited all 54,000+ CRNAs to share their candid feedback. This is the first of a multi-phase research initiative to collect a 360-degree perspective on the value of the CRNA credential from multiple stakeholders (e.g., CRNAs, the public, patients, employers, etc.) -- starting with the CRNA community. This initial phase takes a holistic look at the overall credential rather than about any specific credentialing program.
NBCRNA would like to thank the
8,000+ CRNAs
who completed the email survey! This important initiative will
help guide the NBCRNA on how to further strengthen and advance the CRNA credential and its value to you. An aggregate report of the survey findings will be published later this year.
We value your opinion and greatly appreciate your time and participation in this national survey.
