IPUL's E-News for April 3, 2020

Here are the highlights of our recent activity online. Not all everything is included due to timeliness. If an advertised event already took place, we've left it off.

IPUL is still working! The best method to reach us is through our website request form:    https://ipulidaho.org/connect-with-us   We are still monitoring our   intake phone line   several times a day, and will try to respond to any request there within 24 hours.  For questions that are  not  about something in our  scope of work , you can still leave a phone message as above, or send us an email at  parents@ipulidaho.org   - this account will be monitored daily, but is not as heavily monitored as the main intake systems.

Meals For Kids - Updated Information

Dear families, we received this information confirming that parents do NOT need to have their child present to pick up a meal for them: On March 25, 2020, Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) issued a nationwide waiver to allow parents and guardians to pick up meals for children at Child Nutrition sites operating National School Lunch Program, including Seamless Summer Option, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program and the Summer Food Service Program. Idaho State Department of Education elected to operate under this national waiver. To operate under the waiver the district or sponsor is required to receive approval from the state agency allowing non-congregate meal distribution during COVID-19-related operations and to distribute meals to a parent or guardian to take home to their children. The district is required to have a system in place to ensure the parent or guardian is picking the meals up for eligible children.

Highland High School in Pocatello - Chromebook Checkout Monday, April 6, 2020

We are sharing this information as well - In Pocatello, the Highland School District is checking out Chromebooks to any student in K-12 who attends a PCSD 25 school and is in need of a computer for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES is eligible to check out a chromebook. For full information, call 208.232.3563

Wide Open Schools - Free Content and Learning Materials

Wide Open Schools is a new on-line, one-stop educational curriculum supplement for activities and extensions that our students use in the classroom. Prior to the pandemic, the listed and vetted partners required subscriptions for some of their content and extra learning materials but now they are ALL FREE for teachers and students nationwide. A great gift for home access and learning. Hosted by Common Sense Media. Most of the content partners are /were already being used in the brick and mortar schools prior to this new wave of on-line learning or learning at home. Idaho State Board of Education to Hold Special Board Meeting Monday, April 6, 2020 at 3PM MT

LIVESTREAM WILL BE HERE: https://www.facebook.com/idsboe/ The Idaho State Board of Education will be meeting to consider extending its soft closure directive to public school districts and charter schools. The Board will consider waiving rules defining semester credit hours, and requesting the Governor consider suspending certain statutory requeirments to provide school districts added flexibility.
