Important Graduation Message from Serra High School
Dear Senior Families,

After consultation with the Archdiocese of San Francisco, the San Mateo County Health Officer and senior student leadership, we will be moving forward with the graduation events indicated in our letter sent to parents on May 4, and summarized as follows:
  • Senior Awards  (Thursday, May 28) We will be honoring our graduates who have excelled during their time at Serra. These accolades will be celebrated on social media and will be compiled and shared Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
  • Parent/Son & Baccalaureate Liturgy of the Word  (Friday, May 29 - 5:30 p.m.) We will hold a final prayer service for the senior class and their families to unite in prayer and celebrate with each other as they prepare for graduation. A link to the prayer service will be sent to each senior and will go live Friday, May 29 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Virtual Commencement (Saturday, May 30 - 10 a.m.) Graduation will take place virtually on Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m.  We hope that despite the changes to the ceremony, it will still capture the spirit of brotherhood and celebrate the amazing successes of your sons. We are so proud of our graduates and look forward to a time in the future when we can celebrate with them in person.
  • Conferral of Diplomas   (Saturday, May 30 - Time TBD) The health order of May 11 allows Serra to have graduates and their families to drive to Serra for conferral of diplomas. We have to submit a detailed site and safety plan to the health officer for review.  When approved, we will communicate the details to you via email and post it on our graduation site. In summary, following the virtual graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 30, we will ask the graduate and his family to drive in one car to Serra at a specific time to receive his diploma. Students are encouraged to wear their caps and gowns.  The graduate will be allowed to exit the car to receive his diploma. A professional photographer will be there to take a picture of each graduate. The health officer is requesting specific guidelines including that all students wear masks and gloves when  picking up their diploma.
  • In person celebration  (TBD)  We are committing to the Class of 2020, to the parents, to the teachers, and to the community, to celebrate graduation in person together at a future date when we are allowed to do so. We look forward to coming together to celebrate this incredible milestone.
These events are indicated on our graduation website - here.  We will be communicating further details the week of May 25.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions.

Sincerely,
