Drivin' The Dixie
For the first time ever, the route for Drivin' the Dixie has been reversed! This year's drive will begin in Momence and end in Blue Island, featuring a vintage base ball game between the Blue Island Brewmasters and the Deep River Grinders, food, drinks, and a raffle drawing for participants of Drivin' the Dixie. The festivities in Blue Island begin at 2 p.m. at the intersection of James & Ann streets near First Lutheran Church and Council Oak Montessori School.

Vintage Base Ball
Brewmasters Vintage Base Ball Huzzah! Cheer on Blue Island's own vintage base ball team, the Brewmasters, at their first home match of the summer. This family-friendly entertainment will be on display for Drivin' The Dixie participants, who will be driving South to North for the first time in the event's 18 year history. Tip for the "cranks," as fans were known back in 1858: pack your blankets and lawn chairs for the best experience.

Blue Cap offers a Food Pantry serving Blue Island and Robbins residents who provide a valid ID or piece of mail proving residency. The Food Pantry is open on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

They accept non-perishable food, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo/conditioner, shaving cream, disposable razors, toilet paper, tissue, laundry detergent, dish soap, multi-purpose cleaners, disinfectant wipes, and baby diapers and wipes.
