It is important to note that the information in the February Report predates the economic impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic. 

From February 2019 to February 2020, the Tulare County Employment Report shows no change  in the unemployment rate, but an increase in employment. Additional highlights from the recent report include: 
  • Tulare County's unemployment rate was 11.5 percent in February 2020, equal to the year-ago estimate of 11.5 percent. 
  • The industry with the largest numerical month-over growth was Professional & Business Services, while Retail Trade experienced the largest month-over numerical loss in jobs.
  • Employment increased by 800 year over year, and the labor force increased by 1,000.

HOW DOES TULARE COUNTY'S EMPLOYMENT RATE CHANGE OVER TIME?

    

The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported no change in Tulare County's unemployment rate from February 2019 to February  2020. 

The month over month unemployment rate increased by 0.5 percent, from 11 percent in January to 11.5 percent in February 2020.

HOW MANY JOBS  HAVE COME AND GONE IN THE LAST YEAR & THE LAST MONTH?

YEAR OVER YEAR | A COMPARISON
From February 2019 to February 2020, Educational & Health Services showed the greatest numerical gain with an increase of 1,400 jobs, while Arts, Entertainment & Recreation showed the greatest percent gain with an increase of 10.0 percent. Professional & Business Services showed the greatest numerical and percent decline with a decrease of 1,300 jobs and a loss of 11.1 percent.




 
MONTH OVER MONTH | A COMPARISON
From January to February 2020, Professional & Business Services showed the greatest month-over numerical  gain   with an  increase  of 400 jobs and the greatest percent gain with an increase of 4.0 percent.  Retail Trade showed the largest month-over numerical decline with a decrease of 400 jobs, while Federal Government positions showed the greatest percent decline with a loss of 10.0 percent.
