Meditation Moment

From the Pastor ....

"For everything there is a season,
and a time for every matter under heaven."
(Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Last week during one of my morning runs, I noticed that the road by Browns Creek Park (Neil) was all torn up. The construction workers were digging up the road and laying a dirt surface on top. It was a simple reminder of what "season" we are in for Minnesota. Remember that phrase, "Minnesota has 5 seasons: fall, winter, spring, summer PLUS road construction season?"

While the road was not clearly paved, it also reminded me that this is not the permanent situation. There is progress being made. The road will be made new for easier travel in the future. In a similar way, this reminds me of the pandemic. This is a season, not a permanent situation that we find ourselves in. Behind the scenes, specialists are working diligently on a vaccine. We wait to hear the Governor's announcement for schools later this week. But like road construction, this season, this time too will pass.

Every moment of every day is a gift. God is faithful in reminding us of His presence daily. In this strange season, there are also doors opening up for OSLC. Our worship services are now available: on our website, Facebook, Youtube, Valley Access Television, Dial-in phone service, Drive-up Radio parking lot and even on DVD for those who would like to access our worship services.

Park days with young families happens
weekly. Youth bonfires inspire our youth each week to connect and pray with each other. Mom's night out fellowship encourages each other. Fruit of the Spirit family devotions are inspiring our children to learn about God. Women's bible studies in beautiful backyards, zoom coffee hour and book studies at Pioneer Park are incredible ways to experience small groups. The Caring Tree, Stephen Ministers and prayer chain are also wonderful ways that we support and care for one another. We also had the opportunity to do a service day at Bethlehem on the Midway and we plan to do this again in August.

In every season, God is with us and revealing grace and love. In this season, your church is also here for you in multiple ways. You are not alone. We travel together and with Jesus. Praise be to God!

Faithfully,

Pastor Karna

Wednesday LIVE Worship at 6:30 pm OSLC West Parking Lot

Join us for "Meet the Son at FM 100.1"
We will begin a live radio broadcast worship service in our West parking lot next to the CLC each Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Think of this as a drive-in movie with liturgy and music. All you need to do is tune your radio to FM 100.1 to hear Pastor Karna and the worship leaders conduct worship.

If you haven't guessed, this worship service is designed to be a safe way for us to gather in person without spreading COVID-19. Consequently, there are a number of safety and procedure considerations. We will also continue the online worship on Sundays at 9 am.
  1. When you pull into the West parking lot, stop at the table by the circle round to pick up a bulletin, children's activity pack and leave your offering.

  2. Bring your own communion elements of bread/crackers and juice.

  3. Park your vehicle in any section of the lot except for the back row closest to the street. The nearby power lines interfere with the radio signal.

  4. Park your vehicle with its front end pointing north toward the small hill where the service will be held.

  5. To reduce air pollution, consider turning off your vehicle and open the windows an inch or two for ventilation. If you want to open your windows wider, we strongly urge you to wear face masks to help prevent the spread of infection

  6. Please remain in your vehicles as the radio transmitter can only be heard through your FM dial.

  7. For safety, the church will remain locked down. No bathrooms will be available, so please plan accordingly. (The service will be about 30 minutes.)

  8. To avoid traffic problems returning to Olive Street after the service, please consider only turning right when exiting the parking lot.

  9. The staff will dismiss vehicles by rows, starting with the front (northern) rows first to avoid traffic jams and pollution from cars idling.

We look forward to having windshield time with you!

OSLC Worship Service on Valley Access

Our Savior's will now be on Valley Access Television on Channel 18 at these times each week: Saturdays at 4 PM & 10 PM and Sundays at 3 AM & 7 PM. The television broadcast will show the previous Sunday's worship experience. Praise God for this opportunity to spread the Gospel to the
St. Croix Valley.

Care of Creation Tip
In gratitude, caring for God's Air, Water, and Land

Plant An Air Conditioner
When you plant trees and large shrubs, you're planting air conditioners that will not only provides shade for you and your house, but will actually cool the air 2 to 9 degrees as their leaves release water by transpiration. Surfaces shaded by trees can be 20 to 45-degrees cooler than unshaded areas according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Shading parking lots and windows and roofs on the west side of buildings creates the best results. You will also lower energy use and make less greenhouse gases. For more information, see:

Announcements

Morning Prayer and Praise

Starting the day with a moment of prayer and pausing to focus on God can set us on a good trajectory. Life can be overwhelming during a pandemic. As an additional resource, Pastor Karna is now offering a daily Facebook Livestream moment Monday-Fridays around 8:30 AM called, "Prayer and Praise." Each day she will sing a hymn or a praise song and follow it up with a prayer. These 3-5 minute videos will also be located on our new Morning Prayer and Praise page found on our website. May you trust and know that God is with you always.
Women's Bible Study

Our second summer women's Bible study will be held on Tuesday,
August 4, at 9:30 am in the yard at 663 South Broadway in Stillwater.
Things look differently this year as there will be no food provided although those attending are encouraged to bring their own snack, beverage and mask.  Chad Larson will lead this study "Just Love".  This session, In the nation: Giving birth to justice, is a timely study given experiences in our nation as of late.  We look forward to seeing you there. And invite a friend.

Stephen Ministry

All Alone?

Don't be. God doesn't want us to be all alone. He wants us to turn to others when things are bothering us. Stephen Ministers will walk with you through your troubles and be there for you when you need them.

OSLC has had Stephen Ministry since 2018. Since the beginning of this ministry, 15 trained Stephen Ministers have walked with 22 members and friends of our congregation during life's challenges. Perhaps you or someone you know could benefit from having a caring, listening and nonjudgmental ear. In addition, the Stephen Leaders at OSLC are looking ahead to training a second group of Stephen Ministers. If you might be interested in becoming a Stephen Minister or if you know of someone who could benefit from having a Stephen Minister, please contact Stephen Leaders Becky Maier or Andrea Valley or reach out to Pastor Karna. Any of our current Stephen Ministers can also answer questions and share their experience.

"Encourage one another and build each other up,
just as in fact you are doing."
