AFP Chicago Fellows Spotlight
Michelle Rashad, Imagine Englewood if
Michelle “Chellee” Rashad is raised and rooted in the Greater Englewood community. She is a compassionate leader on a mission to revitalize her neighborhood by investing in youth development and strengthening the support systems of families to build a more prosperous community.
As the fearless leader of Imagine Englewood if (IEi), Michelle has redesigned and developed youth programs to provide trauma-informed care, leveraged strategic partnerships to expand supportive services and activated vacant lots in the community to promote healthy living. Under her leadership, IEi has successfully engaged over 2,500 children and over 5,000 families total, with more to come. Michelle’s story is truly a full circle journey as she is not only a proponent of IEi as Executive Director, she developed her love for service as a teenage graduate of IEi’s Growing Citizen Leaders program (2009).

Engaging the Next Generation of Philanthropists

Engaging the Next Generation of Philanthropists
Authors: Courtney Labetti, Senior Director; Kaleigh Wagner, Senior Director
The future of philanthropy revolves around engaging our next generation of donors—Generation Z and Millennials. Understanding how to attract, retain, and grow your young professional pipeline will ensure long-term sustainability for your organization.
When considering how to engage donors across generations, demographics, or backgrounds, it is important to remember that every philanthropist is unique. While we can study current giving trends and preferred forms of communication, getting to know your donors on an individual level is essential. Take the time to understand their internal motivations and passions. Consider why they give to your organization over others, what they value, what motivates them, and how they desire to engage with your mission. Understanding your donors puts you on a path toward building strong, personal relationships across generations.

October is Ethics Awareness Month
|
|
That's right, we celebrate—because ethics makes philanthropy and fundraising possible. Without ethics, giving doesn’t happen. Fundraising doesn’t happen. Change and impact don’t happen.
Ethics makes it all possible, and THAT’S worth celebrating.
And while we celebrate in October, ethics is critical all the time. So our goal for Ethics Awareness Month is simple: helping you live ethics. Growing your ethical skills. And demonstrating your commitment to the highest ethical standards.
After all, AFP members have already demonstrated that commitment by signing the AFP Code of Ethical Standards. This October, share your commitment by joining the conversation on social media and using #ISignedTheCode and #EthicsAwarenessMonth.
Now Available: A new toolkit for 2021 to publicize Ethics Awareness Month and things you can do to help promote the month and celebrate!
