Celebrating our students this week!

What a wonderful way to start the week for all our Pine Island Families, sharing the good news at Pine Island Academy.

Our most favorite moments each week are sharing in kindness, "wins," and recognizing the great moments of our students at Pine Island.

Please join me in recognizing some of the highlights from the past few weeks.

PIA WAVE Winners, the Pine Island Football team in collaboration with Palm Valley, and one of the most precious moments, our students "helping" a friend at the beginning of the day when their necklace broke while getting off the bus.

I want our families to see how our students are showing great character but even greater taking care of each other. In this moment, although I was not there to observe it, I was told that students stopped immediately and began to help, age and grade didn't matter.

It is through these moments that I want us to recognize that showing kindness and compassion is what matters right now and our students are teaching us that it is a priority to them.

Enjoy these moments and thank you for continuing to show kindness and compassion in your homes as we know it starts in the home. Thank you so much families for your continued support and love during these times!

CONGRATULATIONS to all our students and thank you for making Pine Island a great place to learn and grow every day!

Much Appreciation,

Mrs. Riedl

SCHOOL WIDE NEWS

SAFE AND HEALTHY SCHOOL

Student Health Screening Form - We appreciate your assistance in supporting our health and safety protocols here on campus. If you can answer yes to any of the symptoms on the screener, please keep your child at home and follow the guidelines.

We are asking families to pay close attention to the health screener when sending student's to school.

  • Should anyone in the family be waiting on a Covid result, please do not send any of the student(s) to school until results are received.
  • We have seen an increase number of students coming to school while family members are waiting on results.

Safety Protocols - Attached the district COVID-19 link that was release earlier this week https://www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/covid-19. This is a valuable resources and was developed by the district to provide you with information and updates. It contains: (1) COVID Dashboard, (2) Instructional Continuity Documents, (3) Health Safety Documents and (4) Health/Wellness resources. We encourage you to review the link at your convenience.

Instructional Continuity - We would like to communicate how we will serve our students who are absent due to being placed on quarantine.

  • Middle School students -
  • Students who are placed on quarantine will NOT be marked absent. They will be expected to keep up with their daily work.
  • However, if a quarantined student is ill and unable to continue their education, the student will be marked absent.

  • Elementary Students -
  • Teachers will work with families to ensure that students have what they need to continue their learning at home.

We will continue to work as a Stafffulty to ensure we are working in similar ways to provide support for our families. Regardless of what it looks like what we know is that no student will go without access and the opportunity to learn. That is a guarantee.
