Stay Cool in Summer's Dog Daze Heat

Nature's rhythm has shifted to the slow hot days of summer, with sultry afternoons of shimmering heat and insects buzzing for nectar from upturned flowers in hues of yellow and orange. Storm clouds roll by in rumbling waves that promise rain but rarely release that live-giving moisture, leaving the soil bone dry. All the blooming glory withers in the heat's glare, waiting for evening's cool. In the cycle of gardening, this is the time of endless watering to nourish the delicate petals of petunias and hydrangeas, and even the more sturdy lilies and sunflowers. Nature's resilience is once again on display, as the water revives that ineffable urge to wildly express all that is possible.
Our rhythms shift at this time as well, ushering in lazy afternoons and less energy to get things done in life.
Follow the lead of nature - get up early in the cool of morning to your day's busyness, rest in the afternoon, and bring the day to close with nurturing evening activities. Eat more lightly - cooling foods like cucumber, berries and watermelon. Add a sprig of mint and a lemon wedge to your water to refresh your body and tastebuds. Exercise in the cool of the day and practice yoga that is slow and rhythmic or cooling in nature - a simple "legs up the wall" will do to rest your mind, rejuvenate your body, and reset your nervous system!

Flexibility in the midst of change!
MSY is tweaking its registration system to offer you the greatest amount of flexibility and offer you three ways to practice with us.

Classes
  • All classes are 60 minutes long, whether they are in the studio, at the park, or videos.
  • Due to limited class sizes and numbers of classes this summer, there are NO drop-ins or make-ups allowed.
  • Everyone must register for each class in advance. The schedule will be posted online each Saturday for registration for the following week.
  • If you have a pre-existing 3, 5, or 10 class pass from before March, you must now pre-register for classes instead of dropping in, but they are already paid for by your pass.

Fees - Pay in advance online or by check
I n Studio - ALL Classes are pay per class (except pre-closure 3, 5, and 10 class passes)
  • Gentle and Moderate Yoga classes: $16 per class
  • Senior Chair class: $10 per class

At the Park - pay per class
  • Yoga classes: $10 per class

Video - pay by Class Pass or per class
  • Yoga classes: $16 per class
  • Senior Chair and Strength & Balance classes: $10 per class

Video Class Passes - Passes are ONLY for Video Use (except yearly unlimited pass holders)
  • July 5 Video Pass - $75
  • July Senior 5 Video Pass - $45
  • July 10 Video Pass - $125 (this replaces the Unlimited Monthly Pass)
  • Yearly Unlimited Class Pass - you are good to go for video and in-studio classes!

How to Register - Please note changes!
Everyone registers each week for park classes and videos. NEW this week - you can now register for in-studio classes through the end of July.
  • Weekly schedules will be available on the registration system on Saturday morning by 8AM for the upcoming week - this includes in-studio, at the park and video classes
  • Register for the class or classes of your choice - in-studio, park, or video
  • Please register ASAP for Monday classes, so we know who is coming!
  • You must register at least 2 hours before an in-studio or park class
  • Cancellation - if you must cancel for an unforeseen reason, please give us 24 hours notice to offer your place in the class to another student. You fee will remain as a credit in your account. This is especially important since there are only 6 places in each class.

This system keeps all of us on our toes each week, but allows you to come to classes according to your schedule and preferences!
