Dear Families,

As we begin our transition to home lessons this week, we are entering new territory.  All of us face major adjustments to our lives for the time being.  The best thing we can do for the friends and family we love is to hunker down at home and create a new normal.

It will be tempting to treat this time like a snow day, to hold our normal routines and arrange play dates and park outings.  I am including the following articles for your information and hope that they will helpful in making informed choices for you and your family at this time.  Please take a moment to read these articles and also share them with  others as appropriate:

The physical act of social distancing is nearly impossible for young children.  As for adults, it can feel very awkward.  It goes against our instincts to stand farther than a conversational distance apart.  It will take consistent mindfulness to be aware of your distance from another person and it will be an important practice in the days ahead.

Please keep this in mind when picking up school materials from campus.  We will have grade-clustered boxes in different locations throughout campus for picking up and dropping off home lesson materials. Class teachers will be sending more information about the boxes soon.

Thank you for your willingness to explore and get creative in this new normal with us.

Take good care,

Kara Desiderio
School Nurse
