Cell Phone Robberies
Chicago Police have reported a pattern of robberies during the month of October.
In each incident, a female victim walking alone on the sidewalk is approached by two to three offenders who take a cell phone or purse from the victim using force. In one of the robberies, the offenders threatened to shoot the victim but no weapon was observed.
Incident Times and Locations:
- 2300 block of North Janssen Ave. on October 22, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.
- 2000 block of North Sheffield Ave. on October 22, 2019 at 5:45 p.m.
- 1700 block of North Sheffield Ave. on October 26, 2019 at 12:45 p.m.
- 900 block of West Concord Pl. on October 26, 2019 at 1:45 p.m.
About the offenders:
Two to three black males between 14-19 years of age and between 5'06"-6'02" in
height.
What you can do:
- Always be aware of your surroundings
- Report suspicious activity immediately
- If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
- Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)
- Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
- If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
- Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
