Ms.Josie: The Prek/k class at Shalom School has been loving online learning! Zooming together is so fun. We play games, draw together, and listen to books and stories on YouTube. It's especially nice to have parents to join us each week to learn alongside their children. We have discussed Shalom bayit (peace in the home), the stories of Miriam and Moses and the Ten Commandments, and tzedakah. We've enjoyed learning about these Jewish values and Bible stories together. We also learned about Passover and what we see on the Seder plate.

Mrs. Lisa : The 1st Grade HebrewSaurs enjoyed lots of activities through our Zoom sessions this month. We learned all about Passover and got up and danced our way through the plagues! We learned more Hebrew letters like, Pay - creating ParPars with arts and crafts and discussed the beautiful symbology for freedom and growth. We did Israeli dances and sang the Hatikvah to celebrate Yom Ha'Atzmaut. We searched our homes for Mezuzahs and learned why we say the Shema and Ve'Ahavta.

Mrs. Michelle (2nd grade) : Our Zoom classes have been going really well! We enjoyed making our class seder plate virtually. We all gathered what we had at home, and even found some substitutions! For Yom Ha'Atzmaut we went on a virtual tour of Israel and saw some beautiful places! We learned Hatikvah and focused on the Hebrew letter, hay.

Ms. Brina (3rd/4th grade) : T he 3rd/4th grade class has been amazing to work with during these uncertain times and they haven’t lost their eagerness to keep learning! I’m so thrilled with the amount of work they put in to our online classes, even if it is something they have never done before! As the year wraps up, everyone is doing a really great job with our end of the year review lessons/assignments.
We are wrapping up and reviewing our explorers bible (lessons such as the book of Joshua, king Solomon, the book of Ruth) and learning about the holidays/big events that are coming up before/shortly after the end of the school year (Yom Ha’atzmauT, Shavuot, Yom Yerushalayim, etc.) along with some of our jewish vocabulary we have been learning throughout the year.

Ms. Emma : (5th & 6th grade:) Within the past month we have covered all sort of new topics. We began by learning about Passover traditions from all around the world, including Hungary and Turkey. This past Sunday we discussed Yom Hazikaron and Yom Haatzmaut, and how important both holidays are to Jews around the world.
