Weekly Director Letter 07/23/2021
Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that the summer is half over. A month from now we will be talking about back to school! There have been some questions regarding our annual back to school event. We will have the even this year but will do it in shifts to make sure that there is half the number of people in the room for everyone's safety. Please save the date of Saturday, August 21st. On this day, ONE PARENT/GUARDIAN will be permitted to attend the class orientation. Please be on time as this will be the only time parents will be allowed into the classrooms.

This week our kids in Rainbow, VPK, and K-2 were treated to an in-house field trip from the Miami Children's Museum. I was tickled to see that they put my recently published children's book to song. Here is the link to the YouTube video. https://youtu.be/7g34OVRbbz4

Many parents have asked about staff vaccinations with regard to the upturn of COVID cases in our state. Of our 33 staff members, 30 are fully vaccinated. ALL staff vaccinated or not are still wearing masks indoors and those who are vaccinated may remove them outside, although many are still wearing them outside. We will continue to require mask wearing in Rainbow class and all VPK, and K-2 classes. We will continue our shoe protocol but have revised it for kids in VPK and K-2 to make it easier for families and staff. Those classes will still maintain a shoeless environment. Those families in case you missed it, please scroll up in Brightwheel to the message I sent yesterday so you will know the new shoe procedure.

Finally, thank you so much to the families who are sending a message in Brightwheel when your child will be absent or coming late. It is really helpful in the planning of lunches. Also, I thank parents who are helping us to maintain a healthy school by keeping sick children home. I know this is hard on working families but just one sick child can make our staff and other students sick. Some parents think our sick policy is over the top. I understand kids have nasal discharge all the time, but kids with excessive runny noses will be sent home. If your child suffers from allergies and is being treated for that, please provide us a note from the doctor so that if we see they have an excessive runny nose, we will know the cause. We are not doctors, but try to air on the side of caution. If your child is sent home and a doctor says they are ok to return, we will welcome them with open arms. Likewise, if your child is being treated by a doctor and has excessive discharge, please send them to school with a note from the doctor saying they are being treated and are ok to be in school. That way, we will not need to call you to pick up your child. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Wishing you a great weekend,
Beth Rosenthal Davis, Ed.S,NBCT
