NWCA Board of Directors
Local residents, Brooke & Colby Rohatyn have very kindly donated some wonderful life size Christmas figures they created for the community to use and enjoy. Frosty and the Grinch will be set up and ready for their photo op at the Killiney Beach Hall parking lot on Saturday, Dec. 19th between 10am - 1pm.

Covid event regulations apply and we ask that you:
  • Attend & congregate with members from your household ONLY
  • Remain in your vehicle until you are called forward for your photo opportunity
  • Use your own camera equipment (help will be on hand to take photos if needed)
  • Spend no more than 10 minutes taking photos
  • Please do not mingle post photo shoot - head home for some hot cocoa instead

The Community Hall will remain locked and no facilities will be available.

The NWCA will have volunteers on hand for any questions and to oversee the drive by, making sure it’s safe and fun for everyone.

Bring your Santa hat, Christmas sweaters and smiles for fun Christmas photos.

We look forward to seeing you there!

GET OUT AND PLAY FUNDRAISER
(letter from 15 year old Aiden Satterthwaite written October 2020)

My name is Aiden Satterthwaite, a 15-year-old student at W.L. Seaton Secondary School. On October 12th, 2020 I will be challenging myself to ride my unicycle 41 km. following my school bus route to school. I am doing this to create awareness to get out and play today and to raise money for future park/playground development in my community.

In the days of snap chat, fortnite and zoom classrooms, I want everyone to remember how important it is to get out and play today. To exercise not only your body but also your mind.

I live in a small subdivision called Valley of the Sun along Westside Rd. near Fintry Provincial Park. The subdivisions out here were developed without any green spaces. It has been my dream as a small boy to see a playground built. I would love to see that happen.

All the money I raise will be held in trust by the North Westside Communities Association (NWCA). The NWCA Parks Committee is currently looking at options for new park development. I know I will be gone off to college long before any park is built out here. I am doing this fundraiser so the little kids growing up here will be able to enjoy a dream I have long had.

I will be following my school bus route to W.L. Seaton Secondary School. I will start at Udell Rd. and ride along Westside Rd. to Okanagan Hwy. 97 to Old Kamloops Rd. then onto 43rd Ave. to 27th Street to W.L. Seaton Secondary School. If I can complete my challenge, I estimate it will take 5 to 7 hours. I will be led and followed by two experienced bicyclists to ensure I have a safe ride.

I encourage you to get out and play today, whatever your age is, please support me in my challenge.

Thank you,
Aiden Satterthwaite

Wow, Aiden is one amazing kid! Just want to share a couple more of his recent achievements with you. On Nov.13 Aiden was awarded the Royal Canadian Air Cadets Most Active Cadet for 2019 - 2020. And, on Nov. 21, after many years of dedication, hard work and honing his skills Aiden earned his black belt in Taekwondo. Congratulations Aiden!
A big loud shout out to local realtor Camille Steele from Royal LePage Kelowna for her most recent achievement of winning the 2020 Realtors Care Award for her good deeds.

In our July newsletter we shared with you that Camille and her mom/business partner, Donna, had made a substantial donation of $2035.00 to the North Westside Fire/Rescue Department.

This generous donation was a percentage of commissions made from real estate sales and the mother/daughter duo “plan on doing this often.

Donna & Camille have been part of our community for many years and they have made donations to support several community groups. Both have volunteered on the NWCA Board. Donna served as a director for a couple years and Camille is currently a director on the Board.

In this same newsletter we also shared that Donna & Camille were crossing the border so that Camille could give a life saving donation of her kidney to a close family friend. They returned home near the end of July and at this time Camille is almost back to 100% and their friend has a new lease on life.

You are truly an outstanding woman Camille!

FUNDRAISER SUPPORTS YOUNG MOM GROUP
(invitation from Jennie Henderson of Balanced Bodies Westside)

This FRIDAY at 5pm PST I am hosting a Bootcamp fundraiser!!

Come workout (with your Christmas outfit on) from the comfort of your own home!!

No equipment is required and this is BY DONATION with all funds being donated to a Young Mom Support Group in Vernon BC!!

'Tis the season for giving and this one is close to my heart.

I had my son at 19, and if it weren’t for a young moms program I found, I would not have had anything healthy to eat during my pregnancy and the postpartum period!

You can email donations to balancedbodieswestside@gmail.com and once received, you’ll receive a link to the Zoom Meeting for the Bootcamp class!!

All donations are appreciated!
Fawn Myndzak and her family will be handing out care packages to Vernon’s homeless on Christmas Eve. She is looking for donations of hygiene items, gloves, neck warmers, warm socks (new please), boxes of chocolates/granola bars, flashlights, lighters, bike locks, hand sanitizer and any other essentials that would help the less fortunate.

You can find Fawn on People of the North Westside fb page or reply to this newsletter for her contact info. Thank you Fawn, you are awesome!
