Back to School, 2021
Eastview Elementary School Times

Dear Eastview Families and Friends,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! Our Eastview Family is so excited to welcome your child back to school. We cannot wait to have our building filled with student energy again, ready for learning and the fun adventures that lay ahead of us. Our kind and caring staff has been working hard to prepare for an amazing school year together. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to provide an excellent education for our students.

When you visit Eastview on Open House night, you will see that classrooms have been arranged to continue to allow for social distancing. We will continue to use hand-sanitizing stations, the I-wave air purification system, nightly cleaning of classrooms as well as general healthy habits such as frequent hand-washing throughout the day. We will continue to have additional sections of lunch and recess to reduce the numbers of students in these spaces at one time.

As always, communication will continue to be extremely important this year. During Open House, your child’s teacher will share how they will be communicating with you on a regular basis. During the school year, please email your child’s homeroom teacher with any questions or needs, early in the day, so these can be addressed during lunch. We ask that you please do your best to be consistent with how your child is going home at the end of the day. If an emergency were to happen at the end of the day, please call the main office at 262-348-6000 by 2:00 PM so we can assure that your child gets where he/she needs to be.

Finally, I know that many parents like to come to school and take “first day of school” pictures here at Eastview. We kindly ask that those be taken at home, as we want to minimize traffic and visitors outside of the building on the first day of school. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this.

We are looking forward to a fantastic school year! Flexibility and teamwork will be the key, but together we can accomplish anything. As always, please never hesitate to contact me with any questions. I am here to support you and your child.

Health Updates and COVID-19 Procedures

At this time, Lake Geneva School District has a mask-optional policy for students and staff. If you would like your child to wear a mask at school, please send your child with 1-2 masks to have available for daily use. We would also encourage parents to have discussions with their child about family expectations for mask use at school. Parents, please feel free to reach out to homeroom teachers to discuss your wishes with your child and mask use at school. As always, we will do our best to support your choices and decisions for your family.

As a proactive measure to address the fact that some students may have masks and some students may not, we have incorporated targeted discussions into our morning meeting times as well as our character lessons. These types of conversations fit naturally into our discussions about respecting differences and noting that not all students are the same. Some students may wear glasses, some students may have braces, and some students may wear a mask. We will be proactive in our efforts to make sure all students feel comfortable at school.

As always, if your child is not feeling well, please keep him/her home and call the school to report your child’s symptoms. We ask that families continue to monitor your child’s health daily with routine morning health checks in your home. Thank you for your continued support in this area.
AM Drop-off Procedure: 8:20 - 8:35 AM

  • Enter the parking lot at the far Sage Street entrance.
  • Pull into lane 1 to drop off student/s. Students should exit on the passenger side of the vehicle and cross with school staff to the school building.
  • Parents remain in the vehicle.
  • Exit the parking lot using the same entrance.

PM Pick-up Procedure: 3:35 - 3:40 PM

  • We ask that parents arrive no earlier than 3:25 PM.
  • If using the parking lot for pick-up, enter the parking lot at the far Sage Street entrance.
  • Park vehicles in lanes 1, 2 and 3 of the parking lot; when lane 1 becomes full, then use lane 2, and then lane 3. Please do not block the drive for buses that will be coming into the lot.
  • Students will walk to your vehicle and enter the vehicle on the passenger side. There will be adults to monitor students crossing in the lot.
  • Parents may also park on both sides of Sage Street. We ask that parents park North of the crosswalk on Sage Street. We will help students cross Sage Street at that crosswalk.

School Picture Day is
Tuesday, September 7th

Please use the link below to order your student's pictures and pre-pay for them online. This option is best, as it alleviates having more physical contact and offers parents the convenience of ordering directly from their homes.

We will also have paper copies of order forms available at Open House.
Summer School Review
During August, we hosted a successful summer school program for our incoming 4th and 5th grade students. Each day, students enjoyed learning a variety of topics in math, reading, writing, and STEM along with some time outside to play and have fun! This was a great “jump start” opportunity to get back into the swing of school. Thank you to our awesome summer school staff, Mr. Tost, Mrs. Anderson, Ms. McKinney, Ms. Lois, Ms. Fesenmaier, and Mrs. Cruz, as well as to the students who participated in our program!
This year, our school community's theme will be
“SOAR into Success”

As a way to make our “welcome back” fun for students, you will notice our SOAR and Eastview Eagle decorations around the building. We have also incorporated this theme into daily lessons to help students pave their way to success this school year. We hope that your students enjoy it!

Throughout the school year, we will continue to discuss “S.O.A.R.” expectations as a way to build both independent skills and strong character.

What does S.O.A.R. stand for?
“S” - Show Self Control
“O”- Overcome Challenges
“A” - Accept Responsibilities
“R” - Respect Self, Others, and Property

In addition, each month we will be focusing on a designated character trait, and incorporating that trait into our daily instruction and routines with students. Students will receive Eagle Earnings when displaying positive character choices. Each month, classrooms will be nominating a “Leader of the Pack,” a student from their classroom whom they feel consistently demonstrates that monthly character trait.

September: Soar into a Successful School Year
October: Problem Solving
November: Work Ethic
December: Compassion
January: Integrity
February: Friendship
March: Passionate
April: Kindness
May: Leadership
TOGETHER WE WILL SOAR!!
Chromebook Procedures

We are fortunate in our school district to be able to provide all of our students with a Chromebook. Students will each be assigned a Chromebook, and will be taking it home at the end of each school day, returning it to school the following day.
Please plan for an appropriately sized backpack to accommodate the Chromebook. Chargers will remain at home. Students will be required to charge the Chromebook each night prior to bringing it to school the next day.
Additionally, we ask for your help in speaking with your child about how to properly care for their Chromebook. Please refer to the following Chromebook Care information:

*When unplugging, do so gently
*Carry the Chromebook closed and with two hands
*Keep water bottle on the classroom floor to avoid water damage
*In your backpack, remember to keep your water bottle in a safe spot away from your Chromebook
*When not using the Chromebook, close it to save the battery

Thank you for your support in protecting this
valuable classroom resource!
