Dear Incoming Oxbridge Parents/Guardians,

As we prepare for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, we at Oxbridge Academy are resolved, as always, to deliver a world-class education. COVID-19 has required us to be creative, forging solutions that provide students with the education they need while helping to ensure their health and safety in new ways. In this document, we describe our plan for the Fall, laying out three learning models that respond to different risk levels in the community. The plan presents details about how we are preparing to reopen campus on August 24.

In April, a cross-functional taskforce was convened employing expertise in the primary areas of school operations. The taskforce began with a careful analysis of the unique needs of the Oxbridge community and guidance from associations and governing bodies in health and education, including FCIS, NAIS, Florida Department of Education, CDC, and Florida Department of Health. At every step of the process, we have prioritized the needs of our families and employees and emphasized data-driven decisions, our core values, and a set of guiding principles:
  • To ensure Oxbridge Academy provides a superb academic program, a robust visual and performing arts program, a well-rounded athletic program, and other support programs.
  • To reduce the risk of transmission or spread of COVID-19.
  • To protect vulnerable students, staff, and community members.
  • To ensure students have safe and healthy learning environments.
  • To minimize disruptions to teaching and learning.
An essential characteristic of our plan is that it does not swing between the two poles of 'fully open' and 'fully closed.' We made carefully designed scenarios that exist on a continuum - a measured plan that is responsive to an evolving public health situation. Parents and students can be sure that, at any given time, Oxbridge will be providing an education that meets the moment. Our plan also provides options, including the ability to have students participate online until they are comfortable returning to campus.

To make this plan possible, we have implemented thorough health and safety measures and invested in essential technology and infrastructure. We will continue our professional development in all areas to enhance teaching, counseling, and student support. Whether classes are delivered face-to-face, virtually, or in a hybrid of both, we are committed to providing high-quality learning experiences and engagement.

Soon, you will receive a short survey that will help us in our continued preparation for reopening Oxbridge Academy on August 24. In addition, we will host a student and parent virtual town hall led by our leadership team on July 28 to answer any questions and concerns. More details on the survey and town hall will follow quickly.

If you have any questions regarding our reopening plan, please email  [email protected].

I look forward to seeing you on August 24 for a new and different and exciting school year. Go ThunderWolves!

Sincerely,
