The National Stem Cell Foundation (NSCF) is a Louisville-based non-profit that focuses on research, advocacy and education. They fund adult stem cell and regenerative medicine research, connect children with limited resources to clinical trials for rare diseases, and underwrite a professional development program for middle school science teachers inspiring the next generation of STEM pioneers nationwide. Originally established to fund adult stem cell research and clinical trials, the foundation soon realized research funding wasn’t the only obstacle to advancing curative therapies into mainstream availability. The often unaffordable out-of-pocket costs of clinical trial participation and a critical shortage of U.S. STEM educated professionals became obvious bottlenecks. In 2015, they added education and advocacy to their mission and created interconnected programs designed to address the full spectrum of need. They build collaborations, form strategic partnerships and leverage their relationships across all three platforms –research, advocacy and education – to solve problems, eliminate duplication and magnify donor impact.
