Governor Issues Order Strengthening Mask Requirement

This morning, Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Executive Order 2020-147, which requires individuals to wear a face covering in indoor public spaces and in crowded outdoor spaces. The order further requires any business that is open to the public to refuse entry or service to people who refuse to wear a face covering, with limited exceptions.

Notably, the Governor’s order imposes a penalty for willful violation of the mask requirement as a $500 misdemeanor.
