Palo Alto Tree Removal Permit Project Canopy is thrilled that PhD candidate, Megan Wheeler, has taken on the monumental task to code and prepare an in-depth analysis of over 279 tree removal permits from the past 10 years in Palo Alto. Bayshore Christian Ministries Project: From Gray to Green Last month, we shared highlights from the design charrette Canopy's Teen Urban Foresters (TUFs) held to gather input from local residents and students during Bayshore Christian Ministries' Community Day. Tree Spotlight: Narrow Leaved Paperbark The Melaleuca alternifolia , part of the Myrtaceae family, is also known as the “tea tree”. The name derives from Captain James Cook’s visit to Australia in 1770, who brewed a few of the tree’s leaves to prepare a tea. Tea tree oil is extracted from this tree's leaves.
